The End of DRM, But Not Control over Music?

Posted 09/12/2007 at 10:46:40pm

Like yagi said, not until CDs stop being published. Although, not having privacy of you music is VERY lame, and not a good move, the only reason you should be worried is if you torrent and distribute music. therefore, since that is illegal, you cannot complain about anything. also, if current CD rippers are watermarked it would not matter at all, unless they somehow water marked it with your name and address....

New Video Game Sparks Old Question

Posted 07/19/2007 at 01:06:58pm

Since it is free speech, and it is their opinion, they are allowed to produce this game, Im all for free will and choice. Getting people to buy it is another question, not many American gamers are going to want that game. Remember that games are about the gameplay, not the political plot behind them. If I hated America, I: 1. wouldnt purchase a game and kill Americans, I would protest or voice my opinion. 2. Wouldnt agree with these opinions. I mean, as much as I support free will, this plot is very ridiculous. In fear of sounding like a die hard republican, this is on par with the Palestinian TV show Mickey Mouse rip off that told little kids to destroy Israel among other things. What I dont understand is that, instead of protesting Manhunt 2 (or other games) why just not buy it? Let people who want it to buy it, and dont buy it yourself. Take responsibility for yourself, and not others.

Do Higher MP3 Bit Rates Pay Off?

Personally I rip all my music in apple lossless. It lets me have a lossless copy of my music in the case I lose the physical CD, plus i have plenty of HD space. For me, I need SUPER high quality headphones, and then songs that I can tell. Some songs (even with good headphones) I cant tell the difference. But others I can. I guess it depends on the song, quality of recording and quality of headphones (or speakers). This is an awesome article and I was actually looking for my old MaxPC issue with an article similar to this, I was bummed I didnt find it. but now i found it yay!

EMI to offer digital downloads free of DRM

Posted 04/02/2007 at 10:32:04pm

http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/31437/97/ in that article it says "all the way up to CD quality" 256 non DRM is a really good deal, but some people want lossless files (and apple supports lossless). until then, ill stick to downloading lossless DRM'ed songs from musicgiants.com, and burning them to a cd, and then importing them at lossless again DRM-free
