I just looked closer at that diagram...very interesting. They have it spec'd for DDR3 (2 channel)...but the memory controller is on the GPU side of the die...??
Now I'm no "researcher," but I've already "discovered" that under the hood of Chrome is webkit, the same core code found in Safari...and therefore I'd already deduced it would have some of the same native vulnerabilities (e.g. carpet bombing).
I've been waiting all week for the apple fanboys to get a hold of this little tidbit and start working themselves up into a lather about it.
Yeah I just tried it too in Chrome...searching "CNN" in the address bar, and I also tried going to CNN.com and doing a search with the site's search function, and both worked properly for me (no redirects).
Thanks Marc, I kinda thought/hoped that would be the answer. I understand optimizing the interaction between the two (from BIOS or O/S side), I just though M$ was claiming to directly alter BIOS settings/behavior.
It's like my great grandfather used to say, "you can't write perfect code for all of the people all of the time."
I think what gramps was trying to get across is that no matter what path development takes, from just status quo all the way up to "WAAAAAY the hell outside the box. Miles", you're never going to produce something that pleases everybody.
Personally, I'm happy when different games/developers take a stab at the same theme/plot/story...I think this is when the truly innovative ideas come out*...when they tackle something stalwart with a whole new perspective or approach.

It'll do more than just save them the $350Mil, it will gain them everything that every OTHER company pays SanDisk right now for licensing/royalties.

In what ways can an OS "optimize" a BIOS?
