Modern Warfare 2 PC Multiplayer Capped at 9v9, Says Infinity Ward
Posted 11/12/2009 at 11:38:14am
I disagree that they aren't looking at which platform makes the most money. If PS3 sells 5mil copies while PC sells 1mil, they are definitely going to associate it to be that they need to focus on the PS3 and port it to PC. Yes, they are all sales and they will accept every dollar given to them but it WILL cause them to take note of which platform they should be gunning for and then the others will be afterthoughts.

If Xbox "lacks hacks", how were you playing the game weeks before release? If people can figure out how to steal the game and play it before it's released, they'll find a way to hack. Just as on the PC, if the server isn't scripted to catch the hacks then they will work. And from the sounds of it, there won't be servers anymore so good luck stopping hackers when they do take to the game.
Sooo glad I decided to wait on buying this one!! Love Modern Warfare and this article bummed me out about the new one.
This Flashlight Will Still Let You See the Back of Your PC in 20 Years

For that amount of money, you could go to your local hardware store, get a nice LED Maglite and enough batteries to last a lot longer than 20 years. And the Maglite can be used to beat the bejesus out of a would be robber!
Microsoft Research Demos Five Next-Gen Input Prototypes

I think the last one looks and sounds more useful than the rest at least for graphics work. And to the guy commenting about none of them working for gaming, I'd say that depends on the type of gaming you are doing but not every innovation in computers has to do with gaming. I game too but I also use computers extensively at work and gaming equipment isn't always the best fit! But just as a consolation, I do use my old MX510 gaming mouse on my workstation because the dinky little junk they had attached to it would have given me carpal tunnel in no time!
The Comic-Con 2009 Cosplay Gallery -- 600 Amazing Costumes

So are these just people who really like their favorite characters? Or are they hired talent? If they are just really BIG fans, I'm going to have to start going to these things because there are some really hot people there!!!
Political Group Proposes a Kindle for Every Student
Posted 07/17/2009 at 11:22:31am
I like the idea of a netbook rather than a Kindle. Like someone else said the cost wouldn't be much more if any at all and the benefit would be for taking notes and writing reports and such. The idea is a good one though. Getting rid of all those heavy ass books would save the kids backs. I see the kids at the bus stop hunched over with probably somehwhere close to a third of the own weight on their backs. That can't be good for them. But then if the netbook or Kindle is lost or broken, you just lost all of your books. They better have backups in print as well to deal with this issue.
Hackers Targeting Windows XP-Based ATM Machines
Posted 06/04/2009 at 04:01:45pm
Anyone know what banks are affected or the manufacture of the ATM's that have WinXP on them? I like XP but would prefer some software written specifically for my ATM's!
Church of Scientology Banned From Wikipedia
Posted 06/01/2009 at 11:42:34am
I don't see it as censorship as they were obviously not abiding by the terms of service. And to claim ignorance doesn't work either. Everyone has to agree to the TOS when they sign up for an account. Just because they didn't actually read it (I mean who really does?) doesn't mean they weren't made aware of it.
If you break the rules, you will be banned. End of discussion.
Intel Predicts Ultra-Thin Notebooks Will Cannibalize Netbook Sales with Rapidly Falling Prices
Posted 06/01/2009 at 11:25:28am
I just got an Asus Eee PC 1000HA and I love it! It will never replaced my desktop but I have no problems taking notes, doing homework, running multiple programs. I've even been a little surprised that it runs some of the programs I use such as National Instruments Multisim and Boson NetSim and NetDesigner. I would've thought these programs would have this tiny laptop crying for mercy but no, the 1.6GHz Atom powers through them without a hiccup.
Even had there been a bigger more powerful laptop within a couple hundred dollars I wouldn't have gone for it. The whole reason I bought this was for taking notes at school and surfing the web in as small a package as possible. Accomplished!
CircuitCity.com Returns with Crappy Return Policy
Posted 05/25/2009 at 11:41:36pm
I checked out Circuit City's "sale" when they were going out of business. That was a waste of a half an hour. Before that, I hadn't been in one in years. And I never bought anything computer related from them. High prices and crappy selection. No thanks. If anyone is dumb enough to buy something from the relaunched website, they got it coming. There is a reason the company went under the first time.
