well, like they said, they were using a card before it was even released so the drivers hadn't been optimized for crysis at that point. That said, with driver updates the scores are probably much higher now.

Hey maxpc, I heard that soundcards running on the pci-express bus have had long outstanding problems. Has creative finally managed a workaround on this or is this this new card still plagued by the same troubles?

thanks

The "Tera Era" Begins Today: Hitachi Launches Three-Platter Terabyte Drive

Posted 07/09/2008 at 06:45:57am

So where are all the terabyte-plus drives at?  Why is the industry seeming stopping at terabyte drives. I've been waiting for a LONG time to see some increases in space, that we at least see twice a year, for nothing. Don't get me wrong I love the increasing performance and such, however it worries me to see the stagnant growth in capacity when I always expected it to keep going up and up. What gives?

plus, i know ssd drives are really the 'hot thing' right now, and that they still are no match capacity wise, however are they really that much of an improvement.  do tell maxpc, plz plz.

I'm curious about what audiocard you guys are going to pick.

Auzentech has a superb card compared to creative's and I've been wondering why it didn't get a kickass or best of best rating from you guys. I posted a comment about it on your review of the auzentech but never got any followup. eager to hear your thoughts on the matter.

i mean, try hooking up the digital outs and inputs of the creative card to some z-5500s and you'll see the problems I have with that damn flexijack.

The Dream Machine Revealed--Part One of Three!

The mouse you guys picked out seems all fine and dandy as I have used it myself in the past. However I am curious as to why you didn't pick out the seemingly better mouse, the MX Revolution, which is pretty affordable now. It has almost all the features of the G5, minus the two buttons near the mouse (although you could substitute the search button for one, plus it has the thumb scroll wheel which I love for using in games. Best of all though, the wireless part of the mouse makes it so much more worthwhile for all of us. I myself didn't think I'd be using my mouse away from my desk much but it makes it great to use when I'm away on my bed watching a movie and need to use it.  This seems quite an overlook if you ask me. I love the Revolution, help prove me wrong. you guys gave it a kickass rating yourselves.

Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1

Wouldn't you say that the Prelude trumps the Creative offerings and therefore deserves a "Kick Ass" and "best of best" recognition? After all, not only is the card better designed with that crappy flexijack removed and better driver features such as the dolbydigital live, it has stuff such as 5.1 optical out which the creative option lacks. The drivers are better imo too, as new features are on track for addition, unlike creative which seems to seldom if ever update drivers.
