Ignorance is bliss I guess... lol... Anyways, I started using Eset NOD32 on my AMD Duron 850 back in the day and was shocked at how lightly it loaded even that system. Now I run Smart Security 3 on my Q6600 running Vista Ultimate and it's just as light and efficient. Plus I can keep idiots who use my machine out of social networking sites and whatever else. I'd not even know it was there were it not for my Raptor X 150, lol. Occasionally I do go to some fairly unscrupulous websites but I tend to do that in my Windows 7 Ultimate Beta partition running in Sun Microsystem's Virtualbox (Shameless plug).
Let's see... Other than that, please don't fool yourself into thinking your machine is virus free with nothing to detect anything. That's just folly. Take care everyone and happy new year!

You guys just saved me from replacing an aging test bench's mouse and keyboard! Synergy is so full of win I can't even express it in words! Gone is the frustration of hooking into a KVM or worse yet, moving my mouse and keyboard from my main system to the latest "my computer doesn't work, can you fix it" project.

There are a lot of different quality heatpipe kits out there so be gentle with yours and get to know it. Typically, the generic reference cooler design (as shown in this article) will jump as much as 30 degrees celsius from idle to load, so kinda base your findings off that. Idle averages are at ~53 degrees celsius and ~83 degrees celsius under heavy load (read: crysis) ... So if you're doing better than that with your heatpipe cooler, then by all means, give it some more juice. And yes, your case fans are a heatpipe system's best friend!
Who's Afraid of the FireWire Port? Maybe - You!

Yeah... You'd be astounded at how many peoplpe don't even know what firewire is, or maybe not, lol. Whenever people call me for internet tech support (work at an isp) they always like to tell me that they have a 1394 connection in the listed network connections, that it has a 169 ip, and that is why they can't access the internet. So this kind of exploit would be super easy to accomplish, as a previous poster mentioned (social engineering, etc) .... Pretty amusing stuff. Could possibly educate the masses on yet another part of thier computer by scaring them into getting the correct knowledge. There is no patch for human stupidity as someone was quoted as saying.

Wow, I somehow don't see this working for a lot of people, especially those with stupid, I mean curious pets... Fluffy would use all nine lives if it knocked my drive over while running, lawlz. Still, a first class nerd pr0n gadget, and functional too?! I'd give it a go. 1st!
