AT&T One-Ups Comcast with 20GB (not 120GB) Bandwidth Cap
Posted 11/13/2008 at 11:27:03am
As a underground mainline subcontractor for Comcast on the east coast, there are some real issues that need to be pointed out. I myself have seen where they are not upgrading the lines until it fails. Which means a patched up backbone. Some areas have outstanding speeds others are mediocre at best. It seems to me they are taking the money with there jacked up rates and not putting it were it is needed. But they sure the hell are putting it in there pockets. I have replaced sections were the customer called 6 months ago about slow speeds, that is how little Comcast cares. Now on the other hand Verizon Fios is completely putting in a new backbone and doing things right in this area. Even though I would be out of work, I recommended dropping there service, if you have a choice, because of how shitty Comcast is treating there customers.
Daily News Brief: Can You Trust Local PC Repair Shops?
Posted 04/30/2008 at 10:16:28am
Honesty in allot of these Mom and Pop shops is out the window, including Circuit City and Best Buy. I have seen everything from outrageous labor costs ($100 an Hour) to 100% markups on parts. Not all shops are bad but if you every need a part from them in a pinch they will not cut you a break on the cost. I can see a 10% to 20% markup on shop parts, but Best Buy or Circuit City being 100% over the cost of what Neweggs prices are. Give me a break. What really gets my goat is most of these places treat you like your an idiot when you go in to get something. Thank God I have wised up and try to keep at least 1 new hard drive, memory, DVD drive, and a graphics card around for friends and family until a replacement can get here from Newegg.
