Why (almost) Everyone Should Try Ubuntu
Posted 07/26/2007 at 06:47:46pm
I've always wanted to try Linux, but being a gamer I'm a little hesitant. Steam and 99% of the other 3rd party games it offers are not linux compatible, especially having to find drivers for everything. Printers, webcams, and lots of the other devices need special drivers to work on Linux if I'm correct? It's to bad we can't find a way for everybody to ditch Windows and switch to open source OS and software, then we would get some major support from companies.
$100K Get Rich Quick iPhone Scheme Backfires
Posted 07/07/2007 at 04:52:29am
I saw this awhile back, she was pretty stupid to think they wouldn't enforce a 1 iPhone per customer. I don't know how she planned to buy 100K worth of phones when she only had $16,000. If you watch the video again, he says she showed up to the store with 16K cash in hand.
A Declaration of Independence for the iPhone

These guys always cease to amaze me, how fast they can crack something. So this code he wrote bypasses the activation and unlocks all the features on the phone, but you can't use the phone on another network like Verizon or anything right? It's probably just a matter of time until you can buy the phone and then switch it over to Verizon/Cingular or whatever your carrier is. I don't know much about cell phone technology but I bet it's just a matter of time.
Vista to 360 = Oil to Water

This is not really related to your question but I have found the best way to watch divx, xvid movies is to buy the cheap Philips DVP5960/37 DVD player because it is the only DVD player I know of that has a USB port and supports all kinds of codecs.... 1. Get my xvid, divx movie 2. Transfer it to my 160GB USB portable hard drive 3. Plug my USB portable hard drive into my Philips USB DVD player 4. Menu pops up when I turn the power on to the DVD player that shows all the movies on my portable hard drive 5. Select movie and hit enter 6. Plays movie, sound and video quality superb This DVD player was a god send, before I bought it I always had to burn movies to CD's or DVD's and then insert them into the DVD player, that or hook up your computer to the back of your TV so you can play the movie.... That and I don't need to worry about trying to stream videos or any of that other crap, simply download the movie, transfer it to your portable hard drive and plug it in. Select movie and play...all these people who invest this money into streaming content to their TV can suck it...I do it the cheap way and it works great!
10 Things that Kicked Ass at Showdown

So is MaxPC and PC Gamer going to be at the 2nd Showdown at Indy? I haven't signed up yet because it's a 8 hour drive there but I'm thinking about it. Just need to convince a few friends to come along so I won't be a loner.

Quad-core, you're So HOT!

Lian-Li PC-777B? God that thing is hideous. It looks like a snail or something with that design. I'm going to build a new computer here soon and I'm having the hardest time finding a good solid quiet case. I've been really looking at the Antec P182 but everybody says its hard to build in and gets really hot inside. What case would you recommend for a good quiet high thermal performance case then? Lian-Li makes some great case but they are expensive. I'm looking for one under $200.
