Beware of Mail-in-Rebates (Seriously this Time)
Posted 11/14/2008 at 12:31:29pm
Anything that requires that you jump through 17 hoops, do the hokey pokey and fill out 11 forms in triplicate to get your own money, should be avoided like the plague. I detest rebates and will always take the product that has a genuine low price, over a moderately lower rebate price on another product. I am 1 for 3 on rebates, with one being payed out, one being declined because I sent a copy of the receipt instead of the original (I had to keep the original for warranty per the product warranty) and the last inexplicably not being paid for any reason, and Newegg offering me $30.00 of my next purchase instead, which was never honored because they lost record of the offer. My point? Avoid rebates like the scam they are!
ATI Catalyst 8.9 Drivers Releases Into the Wild

I am running a Viewsonic LCD monitor with DVI connection and it works fine with my MSI OC Radeon 4870. I would guess there is something wrong with your monitors DVI connection or your individual cards DVI port if your DVI is not working. It's definitely not a driver issue.
What is a driver issue I wish they would have addressed is the problem running Battlestations Midway. the atikmdag driver does not get along with BSM and crashes the game 2 seconds after gameplay launch, with a display driver not responding error. This does seem to be pretty wide spread based on the posts online and it doesn't appear anyone with a 4800 series card is able to play BSM currently.

MPC dinged the coop for no split screen but they forgot to mention the brilliant aspects of the coop. You can actually play coop over the internet for starters, unlike just about any other game out there and that is terrific on it's own. I wish many more games would do that, as sometimes dealing with the online rif raf in multiplayer games becomes very tiring. Hooking up with a good friend that doesn't annoy the hell out of you and sharing the single player campaign can be a hell of a lot more fun and less annoying, and because you have your entire screen to yourself instead of losing half the real estate to your coop partner, but can still see him and talk to him, it makes for a much more immersive and enjoyable experience. Take notice game developers! GOW is on to something with their Coop and you should follow suit!
