Actually, the mybook world if you do some research on it, can be changed from RAID 0 to RAID 1 using the software that comes with the drive, also, the 7 dollar monthly payment to MioNet is for their premium services not for the basic abilities to work with the MyBook World itself. The drive can also be used without the MioNet Software.
