Who are the Sexiest Geeks of 2008?

Olivia Munn should be 1st, it's not even close, then Steven Colbert. Am I the only one that saw the Halloween episode of AotS?
The whole thing is obviously a farce, since that weird looking guy pictured above somehow got voted in #1. How am I supposed to take any list seriously that has him at the top, whomever he is?

...MS knows that there are far more customers in the "not a queer canadian troll" category than there are on your side, hogkill. So they don't have to care about what you want, they can just go with what most people want. You can't please everybody, so you may as well try to please the pleasant.

...for existing. Otherwise I just don't know where I'd go to find whack jobs who are completely out of touch with reality tirade like this.
My favorite part was definitely "There is no way to actually prove this, but all the old school players know it goes on and are NOT happy about it"
Classic.

New Flying Lens Could Revolutionize Optical Drives, Render Blu-ray Obsolete
Posted 10/28/2008 at 08:53:14pm
I'm all for technology, but I feel a bit misled with your little "render blu-ray obsolete" draw. It would be one thing if this were coming out Q4 2009, but we're talking 3-5 years for "industrial implementation," who knows how long for a home solution. I expect my current technology to be obsolete in 3-5 years. I am currently using exactly 0 gadgets of any sort from 3-5 years ago. So this will basically not affect any plans I might have as whether or not to adopt blu-ray. Or I could just wait 3-5+ years for hi-def optical discs, hmmmmmm?
While we on news flashes, this just in, everything you're using now will be obsolete in 3-5 years.
World of Warcraft Consumes 11 Million People

I guess that depends on what you consider cheating. Either way, they have more subscribers than your game by at least 10x, no matter who you are. I am with you on one thing though, I'd love to see some competition worth playing. I'm an avid WoW fan, but I'd love a good Star Wars MMO (SWG does not count as one). I'd also be open to Stargate or Star Trek. Anything in the stars really (I'm getting tired of all the fantasy, let's have some Sci-Fi). Here's the thing though: I've spent a lot of time learning everything there is to know about WoW. From tactics to mechanics to maps, I've invested a lot of time in it. It's going to take a hell of a game to make me give up that investment.
Star Wars: The Old Republic Gunning For WoW's Throne
Posted 10/27/2008 at 12:20:44pm
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, if you want to play an MMO there is an enormous overhead that can only be paid for with a subscription service. Someone has to maintain the servers, fix the glitches, provide customer service, etc. Those people aren't going to work for free. I've had enough of hearing from you cheap idiots who can't seem to understand how the economy works at even the most basic level.
YOU CAN'T HAVE YOUR GAMES FOR FREE! At least not legally.
I have played WoW consistently for 2.5 years, and for that entire time someone has had to be on the other end, making sure I have an enjoyable experience. I really don't think the $40 I plopped down almost 3 years ago is going to hold them over, even with the additional $40 for the expansion. Furthermore, have you ever played any video game that you own for over 2 years? There is a value that you get for the experience that you pay for.
If the company cannot make a profit on a game, they will not make that game, if they cannot make a profit on any games, they will not make any games. How would you like that?
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic MMO-Splosion -- "Biggest BioWare Game Ever Made"
Posted 10/22/2008 at 04:11:00am
First of all, Jade Empire sucked. Secondly, Bioware is a big company, I'm sure they have enough staff to make an excellent KOTOR game and your crappy thing. While devoting more people, time and money to a game will get it done faster you reach a point of diminishing returns. It's like saying that 6 people can type a report faster than one can alone. Maybe they can, but will it be coherent? How much time will have to be spent making sure everything meshes? Lastly, Star Wars has a huge following and will make Bioware money no matter what. Maybe they can use some of that to make your stupid game, and to recoup the losses when it bombs. Either way it will keep Bioware in the business of providing games that you can play or not at your discretion, and that's a good thing. So is giving WoW some competition, to keep them on their toes and drive them to keep improving their product.
Blizzard: "Well Over Half" of Players Who Deserted WoW For Warhammer Are Already Back
Posted 10/17/2008 at 12:15:24am
I'm tired of all the people who come on here and cry about "spammers and scammers" I've been playing MMOs for years and such people have never impinged on my gaming fun. Let me let you in on a little secret. People pay a monthly subscription fee for WoW because the game is fun and they enjoy playing it. If that's not your thing fine, but if you find the idea of paying a subscription fee for a continued service "offensive" then I'd hate to hear your opinion on paying for cable TV or internet. "I already paid for my TV at the store, now I have to pay them to put shows on it? That's BS!" Do you complain about magazine subscriptions too? There is an overhead to developing games worth playing. I'd be willing to bet the only reason you're playing NWN2 is because you pirated it you cheap B@$t@!d. So lets call this what it is; you just don't feel like you should have to pay anyone for their hard work, apparently the world owes you a good time.
