Let's say that one transmitter draws as much power from the outlet as one cell phone charger (that may be a bad example) and that it sends out its device-agnostic wave signal.
And any device within range can pick up that signal.
And let's say that there are 1000 devices within range.
Then wouldn't the amount power being drawn at the wall be less than the amount of power that it normally take to charge those 1000 devices individually the traditional way?
Since one emitter can power multiple devices without increases the draw from the outlet, they could be put in high traffic areas (like Starbucks, shopping centers, office buildings, schools, etc). So, a hundred devices can be recharged for the price of one. That significantly changes the environmental footprint.
Now, if they could eventually fit the emitter and the receiver in the same device, with a "jumpstart" charge, the device could power itself and other devices near by. No more batteries needed.
That could cascade into no more new power generation in the first place and the jumpstart charge could be obtained by other device that are already running the emitter.
So, MPC decided to cover an off-topic event. So what?
This site is free to you. The coverage isn't in the magazine that you do actually pay for, so big deal.
Now, I am a geek. In my circle, the Alpha Geek. I love Star Trek AND Star Wars. I love tech. I love comics. I am a software developer. I even chose the gym that I go to because their machines record my workouts, email them to me and post them online to track.
Personally, I like to see this coverage here. As I said, I love comics, but I only have a passing interest in the convention (I am a geek, not a dork. No offense, Norm.). So I won't bother going to search up some site I never heard of in order to read a 12 page in-depth dissertation on some ridiculous minutia. I just want to see some cool stuff, maybe get some upcoming movie info, and see some hot superhero chicks.
You don't like it, don't read it. Just scroll your little mousey past that link to the next one which will deliver you the best tech info and insight around.
Wahh! You dared to mention something not tech-related reducing your tech-to-nontech content ratio to a billion to one.
Whoopee-fricken-doo!
And you any other posters complaining about this coverage:

I don't understand the controversy on this.
