Nvidia Ships the GeForce 8600 GTS

Posted 07/17/2007 at 02:14:19pm

I was shopping for a single or set of new video cards and I am a little boggled. It seems that I would get the most prerformance out of buying two seperate cards, like a pair of to the Leadtek PX8600GTS 256MB GeForce 8600GTS 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 cards at 675 mhz core clock and a 2000 memory clock for a total of 1350mhz core and 4000 memory priced on newegg for around $300, than if I purchased a single ASUS EN8800GTS 640M GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 with a 500 mhz core clocK and a 3200 memory clock which is priced on newegg for $306. Looking at the specs it looks like the two Ledtech cards are the better value, but I know that benckmark testing often proves vendor specifications wrong.
