 I'm an existing AT&T customer and I just checked the price for the iPhones with 2yr contract; 

iPhone 3G - 8GB  = $99.00

iPhone 3G - 16GB = 149.00

iPhone 3G S - 16GB = 199.00

iPhones 3G S - 32GB = 299.00

 I took a screenshot, so I have evidence of this information. My 2-yr contract with AT&T ended in March, so perhaps they are viewing me as a "new" customer, but I doubt it since they link me to "Upgrade" my phone. My Blackberry 8800 (brand new at the time) cost me an arm and a leg after my previous contract was up, so I don't think they see me as a new customer. The only thing I can think of is that my company is a "Premier" customer so I may be enjoying a company-based discount?

I haven't had issues with either Ubuntu updates nor Windows updates. I agree with the above poster, sounds like FUD.
