Try telling that to my sister-in-law, who had to bring back her new MacBook after one month....
Face it, PCs and Macs (I know, Macs ARE PCs, so are Amigas, Timex-Sinclairs, etc., but Apple insists on the distinction, and who am I to argue with them?) use the same damn parts built by the same damn companies in China. Are Macs engineered better? Possibly, but that's debatable (the iMac is one of the least green computers ever designed, LCD or motherboard goes bad, you throw away both). Are they worth the large price differential? Doubtful, as recent unit sales are reflecting...

Windows 7 Beta seemed a little underdone, but that could have been the immature state of the drivers. RC feels polished enough to release "as is", even though my motherboard is having problems waking up from sleep...
Smooth Sailing for Blu-ray?

...that is, if you can get them for $79.99 at Costco, etc. They make pretty good upscaling players for regular DVDs and it'll play HD-DVDs which will be going for peanuts in a few months. Buy the HD-DVDs, rip them to your hard drive, and re-record them when cheap Blu-Ray recorders come out. OTOH, Sony and Panasonic can go pound sand if they think I'm going to pay $400 for a Blu-Ray player. Wide screen DVD quality is sufficient for me, anyway. Since they're the victors, I'll just wait and let the dust settle on their expensive boxes. A Blu-Ray player will be on my shopping list when it hits $99, and Blu-Ray DVDs are no more expensive than regular DVDs...
