Modern Warfare 2 Breaks Record for Biggest Launch in Entertainment History
Posted 11/14/2009 at 10:27:31pm
Dragon Age I am.
Strangely on xbox, my gaming PC needs repairs and I couldn't wait to play it. eventually I'll sell the 360 version and buy it off Steam to enjoy some true HD and proper control scheme.
But the 360 version is worth it. Still only 25 hours in. I love the game.
I will probably play MW2 later when I get that PC up and running again (as well as Borderlands which I have bought and didn't get my hands on yet)
Apple Files Patent for OS Embedded Advertising
Posted 10/23/2009 at 08:57:53pm
I see some possibilities there:
-Apple opening Mac OS to 3rd party OEM builders or even end user that build their own PCs (yep us guys) but make sure their version is crippled compared to an Apple PC.
-A certain amount of freebies/month on iTunes to users who would get a ratio of free downloads while suffering adds before downloading and/or listening to their content.
-A new line of budget Macs with the trade off of having to suffer through adds.
either ways: iMac, iPod, iPhone, iDiot.
Edit: oh!!! I see: Apple netbooks!
Left 4 Dead 2 Banned in Australia, Valve “Bummed”
Posted 09/19/2009 at 10:23:46pm
your IP adress identifies your ISP and its country (and often city) of origin so it is fairly easy for an app to mark you as an Australian and adapt the content displayed to you (and sold).

Google Triumphs in Blind Search Engine Taste Test - Or Does It?
Posted 08/19/2009 at 12:48:36pm
I tried 3 different searches.
1st : the name of my former band. I then voted for the column I saw the most related to and diverse infos : Google.
2nd I checked for a band I liked a lot when in college: Mudhoney, I was expecting a search engine to also point to the Russ Meyer movie of the same name, none did within the first few results. However, the one I chose had a link to their sub pop page as well as the ovious wikipedia and myspace pages. Which one? Google.
Lastly I search my current employer. Yahoo gave only subdomains (support.domain.com, www.domain.com, corporate.domain.com, store.domain.com) Bing added a few product sites but then again, Google offered the most comprehensive set of results.
For 3 out of 3 searches I prefered results from Google. I think I`ll stick to "Google is your friend" motto.
AMD Demos DX11 Hardware Running at QuakeCon
Posted 08/16/2009 at 08:54:51am
Remember dx 10 cards?
AMD had a promising lead with the new XBOX GPU being as close as you can get to DX10 and Nvidia came out of nowhere during the first week of November and hit us all on the head with the 8000 GPUs.
They were supposedly months from launch and had no clear plans announced.
Don't count 'em out yet.
Microsoft Explains Why They Can't Pull The Plug on IE 6
Posted 08/13/2009 at 07:03:20am
"if you’re an IE6 user, you’ve got roughly four more years to enjoy your ancient web browser."
If someone that reads `MPC uses ie6 as is primary browser then consider myself shocked.
However, Natural Selection will get them on its way.
Wolfenstein Has a Very Strange Money-Back Guarantee
Posted 08/13/2009 at 06:54:50am
The publisher is Activision, I`m pretty sure they don`t care that much.
They will have 5 new 'Hero' games out before the end of the year as well as a new Call of Duty, If Wolfenstein brings in an extra penny good, if not .... well I think Mr. Kottick will still find sleep.
Firefox Hits 1 Billion Downloads
Posted 07/31/2009 at 08:06:27pm
I wonder how many people it took to download it a Billion times.
I must have downloaded it dozens of times myself on different home PCs, office PCs, plus all the updates before Firefox started to update itself.
The Game Boy: Linear Games Aren't Bad – They're Just Misunderstood
Posted 07/26/2009 at 10:33:40am
There is still room for linear games, but they have to be gorgeous, entertaining, addictive and innovative.
I've been playing linear games for the best part of the past 30 years and I crave for open worlds nowadays. I can still look at linearity in the face and say ok, one more time but we're on a bit of a hiatus here.
