Microsoft Still Considers PC a “First-Class Gaming Platform”

Really I can't tell. It seems MS only sees it as a first class way to drain more cash from people. Kill it before it devours more A+ titles.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 295

I think anyone who buys one of these cards is running them at 1920x1600 and above, on a large monitor with full details and AA maxed out. This is the realm where the RV700 really shines. I'd be interested to see how the new Nvidia GX2 card does with a high AA at 2560x1600. These synthetic benchmarks (other than Crysis) don't even scratch the surface of what we expect from a $500 card. It would have been fine for a midrange card but not a top of the line dual GPU setup. Real worldbenches is where it's at.

When I saw the headline I was going to say the same thing.

I DON'T CARE ABOUT SONY OR IT'S CRAPPY PROPRIETARY HARDWARE. EVEN IT THEY MADE IT TO 100TB I WILL NEVER, EVER PURPOSELY BUY ANYTHING FROM SONY AGAIN!

AMD's Mobility Radeon 4000 Line Packs 800 Stream Processors in Your Notebook

Posted 01/11/2009 at 02:42:44pm

This is long overdue for ATI. I keep seeing these crappy low grade Nvidia GPU's (the faulty 8400M and 8600M) in new laptops and wondered when is ATI going to release some 4800 or 4600 series cards? Finally. If these cards are cheap and reliable ATI can take a big chunk out of Nvidia's laptop market share with these chips.

I'd take a 4870 mobile over a 9800M GTX (or what ever they call them) any day and probably for a similar price. No doubt Nvidia is still gouging their customers in the mobile market since ATI has little presence there.

My sister's HP has an 8600M and it's the slowest piece of garbage I've ever used. EVER! It's unbelievable that people are happy with them.

Nvidia Rolls Out the GeForce 100M Series

Posted 01/11/2009 at 02:27:12pm

Are you guys blind? These are just re-badged 9 series laptop chips mixed in with the poorly engineered and broken 8 series chips they're pushing out to market anyways. These aren't new. These aren't GTX200 derivatives, they're from the old architecture. Smarten up or you'll get suckered by Nvidia, again.

They're going to do the same thing with the 9 series desktop chips. First they were 8800GT's, then they were renamed to 9800GT's and now they'll be GTX100 series desktop chips.

I've always owned Nvidia products (still rocking my 680i and 8800GTX) but since AMD\ATI came to challenge them they have been exposed as anti-consumer. All corporations are out to make as much money as possible but they have taken deceit to a whole new level.

I wonder how many Nvidia fanboy's have bought the same card two or three times?

AMD Strikes Back with Phenom II -- Full Analysis and First Benchmarks!

"It wasn’t all bad news for Phenom II though. The chip won the ScienceMark 2.0, Quake 4, and PC Mark Vantage tests and eked out a win in the Valve map compilation test".

Well thank god for that, I was just considering buying a new AMD based PC so I could run 5 year old games and synthetic benchmarks. None of that real world stuff matters to me. Thanks AMD!

Rambus Lawsuits hit a Legal Snag

Gee, it sure sounds like it doesn't it? When the judge offers an opinion that you're taking this a bit too far and have patents which lack inforcement because of something as simple as a lack of proper paperwork, it's time to take stock and or change tactics. It's just a matter of time before this ends badly for Rambus. Or before courts start throwing out law suites by the dozen.

I've got tons of amazing patents that some billlion dolar companies have stolen but I just can't find the paperwork right now.....

Exclusive: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin Interview

Posted 01/09/2009 at 05:26:29am

"The team knew how to make PC games but hadn’t done a console title before, so it was easier to ensure that decisions made for the consoles would work on the PC rather than the other way around."

Great another fucking console port. This is another reason people complain of the PC's decline (even though it's not in decline, growth is just slower compared to the consoles). They use piracy as an excuse to release half ass console ports when the development should be the other way around. We are getting shafted though, make no mistake. If EA, Ubisoft and Activision keep up this trend they'll be left with their dicks in their hands and not a pot to piss in becasue I'll never but another inferior console system. Just to clarify there is nothing wrong with consoles they're just not for everyone. Garbage.

Also wasn't FEAR a PC and XBox360 title? Isn't the team working on this game the same ones who worked on FEAR. Yes they were. PC first, console last. That's how it's supposed to work if you want to release a good game.

I love what Comcast is doing here! More money for the corporations and a decrease of service for us! YAY!

This has never been about people using too much bandwidth but about Comcast wanting more money.
