Daily News Brief: Used Games Debate

Posted 01/16/2008 at 10:43:22pm

I don't give a flying freak that the developer gets nothing on a used game. If the game sold for $60, $600, or $6 when new, the person who bought it could throw it in the garbage when done with it and the developer would still get nothing for it, so why should they get something for it if they don't throw it away. If they want to cry poor, then charge more for the game in the first place(they won't because the market won't fetch too much more). Also, if they are just jealous that someone else is making money, then just realase games online and have no physical property for someone to resell.

iPod Repair Follow-up

Posted 12/18/2007 at 07:40:18pm

I would think that if they just switched out the old ipod for a new one, then the computer that you sync your ipod with would not recognize it as allowed devices for playing. Each one has its own internal serial numbers, right? If I hook up my iphone, itunes recognizes it as a specific device. My appletv also has a specific internal number that my pc recognizes as mine. Anyhow, just a thought on the previous comment.

PC + Digital Cable = Not Ready for Prime Time

Posted 06/07/2007 at 09:34:35pm

The cable tech said that he had tested the occur cards before coming over. I had read another article from somewhere else when they were testing the external digital cable wonder and the tech also tried to use a card that was working earlier. They failed also. The reason is that once a card has been used or tested or tried, it becomes married to whatever device it was first attempted with. Therefore it will not work on your system if the tech fired up the cablecard prior to installing at your location. Most cable companies are money hungry beasts, so be sure to get your money back on the service call because more than likely, it was their fault that their cards would not work on your system because they were used (albeit for only a brief test).
