Top Freeware Tools to Tweak Your PC!

There's a program that I'm pretty sure has been featured in MPC long ago but I cannot for the life of me remember what it is called. It was a Windows Explorer type utility that showed a graphical layout in colored blocks of the files/folders contained on your PC. The larger the file the bigger the block. It was incredibly useful in terms of figuring out what was taking up the most space on your HDD in order to do some house keeping. I'd love to get my hands on a copy of it again.
$208 Million Petascale Computer System Gets Green Light

The campus doesn't end at Urbana.....the two cities split the campus in 2.
Anywho, as a grad student at UIUC I'm surprised I haven't heard about this from the campus itself. I'm sure they're getting funding from elsewhere besides the state but it's disappointing they can't use that much money for something a bit more useful. The University has a bunch of other things they could use that kind of money for, especially since the past two years have been a pain getting a budget approved by the state.
The Hunt For Vista Drivers

Nvidia does not specifically support most notebook GPUs and instead relies on OEM vendors to create their own drivers. The link you've listed is for desktop GPUs only. If you look at the products supported list you'll notice the GeForce Go 7900 GS is not listed.
New Nikon D90 Features Better Eye-Fi Connected Features

I understand why some would want Wi-Fi enabled SD cards but I just don't understand why anyone would actually want to use it. In my case if I have my laptop available to upload the pictures to than I'd rather save the camera's battery and take the few extra seconds to just plug the card into my memory reader. Maybe I'm missing some other catchy feature that comes along with Eye-Fi that would make it more worth it.
Consumers Still Shy on Blu-Ray; Missing Out on Glorious High Definition Cinema
Posted 08/13/2008 at 11:39:05pm
Upgrading to Blu-Ray just isn't worth it to me. It costs to much to me and I have too many DVDs that I think still look great and wouldn't want to spend the money to replace. I won't deny the superier quality of BR, but honestly I don't think it's that huge of an improvement to make me spend what little money I have on it. Perhaps when the price of players come down (sub-$100 range) I might get one just so I can play movies I borrow from others.
Gaming Roundup 8/7/08: Just us Ninjas

I've never thrown a piece of hardware but I do get pretty pissed at games sometimes. The funny thing is usually after I calm down and re-try that difficult part of the game I end up acing it on the first try.
I have a friend that threw his monitor around years ago one night while playing Rainbow 6: Black Thorn on the LAN. I've never seen someone get so frustrated.
Google to Work its Advertising Mojo in Videogames Soon

The last thing I want to see in my games whether subtle or intrusive are real ads (especially the ones that change according to your habits). I'm bombarded by ads everywhere I look. Gaming is the one place I go to seek refuge from that type of crap.
