Best Buy's Next $250 Laptop Isn't a Netbook
Posted 11/10/2009 at 11:31:23pm
I would not buy an acer laptop if acer paid me $250.00. They have a defect where after a year the keyboard , mouse, and USB port fails, leaving the owner unable to boot or re-install or repair their OS. This problem has been around for more than 4 years now and Acer continues to push it's crap ware. A quick search of " mouse keybosrd and USB not working, acer " will result in countless complaints.
Acer Confident that it Will Replace Dell on the Throne

A search containing "keyboard and mouse not working, Acer laptop" will result in thousands of disappointed owners of new Acer laptops. One look at the models having the same issue would cement in your mind this fact. Laptops manufactured by Acer have been failing due to sudden non responsive keyboard, mouse and USB ports. These failures generally appear after the warranty period. However a review of the many posts on help sites show, owners with problems as early as 1 week post purchase. Sure Acer's laptop are sleek, thin, and appear to have an affordable retail price structure. However, When a moderately priced Acer fails faster than average Laptop the solution is increased cost for the owner. The only option the owner has is pay to repair, or replace the faulty device.
A customer looking for a reasonably priced laptop with a budget of $560.00 within 14 month would have spent a total of $875.00 if they repair, and $1,160.00 if they replace. Customers do your research, Acer has a known problem and continues to flood the market with defective laptops.
Please e-mail lovebug653@yahoo.com if you purchased an Acer Laptop that failed soon after warranty. I am considering a class action suit against Acer.
Acer Confident that it Will Replace Dell on the Throne

I purchased an acer laptop, I was unable to back up my OS using their utility. The system failed within 3 months of purchase. I was never able to get a replacement setup disk. I would never purchase anything Acer makes.
Dell actually has a good customer support. My next laptop will be a dell, no matter how inexpensive Acer products are.

When you purchase a high ticket item get a shopping cart and load it up with all the accessories you can find. Explain to the sales person that your company will only pay for the item itself, no warranty, no nothing "just the Item" . Follow by explaining that the laptop or whatever will be used at home so you will purchase everything on a seperate invoice. Follow by requesting an additional discount on top of the sale for the laptop. You will probably get another 5% to 10% or they may use a tax exempt ring-out. after you purchase the laptop start looking for the credit card that is "my personal debit card" . Ohh.. I forget it in my car............
Take your laptop.... get in the car..... step on the gas...... go home and load all set-up your own laptop.
Accell’s UltraAV HDMI 4:2 Switch

Don't Nike....Before U die...Ask..... Why?
I use A Denon Home Theater Reciever With A built in HDMI switch. I attached a Media Center PC running Vista Ultimate, and the Denon would only switch and display a computer picture when I booted up the PC. I thought it was a problem with the Denon's HDMI Switch. However, I decided to Upgrade my PC motherboard's onboard Network Chipset drivers (realteck) updated the PC's Video Card drivers (ATI Radon) and upgraded to Vista's SP1. Proplem solved. I do not know if the issue was in just one of the devices or if it was a cumilation of all three issues. But I can bet that the problem is not the HDMI switch but rather driver issues within the PC. Thanks.......
How To: Maintain Your Water-Cooling Setup

I use a large mouth container. I disconnect the input or return line from the CPU water block. I submerge the CPU block into Distiled water. I afix fishing weights to the return line and submerge that into my large mouth bottle. I add a bit of water into my reserve tank and close cap. I turn on the pump. The pump will suck water minus bubbles from the bottom of my large container. The air that normally circulates and gets trapped in the loop drops into my large container and floats out of my loop. I now look at my reserve tank and simply tilt my case until the air in tank is replaced by water. When no air is in the loop I stick my gloved hands inside the jar and connect the hose back to the CPU block closing the loop. I then wipe off all the water or coolant, remove the weights, tighten the hose clamps, and place block on top of CPU using artic silver. You will have no air in system and your PC will not sound like a fish tank.

Go to auto zone and purchase hi-temp silicon gasket cost about $3:00 per tube. I use hi temp just in case the water level becomes low and water starts to boil over the CPU. I apply a very small bead of gasket silicon over and under the o - ring or in both the upper and lower o- ring groves. I then wait a a few hours before tightening up the block. I have never had a leak since I began doing this over 5 years.
