Data Recovery Software Roundup -- Don Your Detective Cap and Find Your Missing Data!
Posted 01/20/2009 at 08:41:01am
I Use Runtime Software's GetbackData. I have 3 versions. Fat32, NTFS and I also got Raid Recovery which worked well and netted me 20 times more than what all 3 programs cost me!
I can format a drive, install windows on it, format it again and recover the data that was on it before I formatted it the first time!

Commodore Comes Back
Posted 10/09/2007 at 11:11:58am
I still have my Atari 800 and 800XL and Commodore 64 Boxed away in my storage. I even have the ATARI 1040 ST! Remember that? I never got to get my hands on the Amiga :( I have the emulators on my PC for all of them. I STILL play Archon!! I agree that its a masterpiece! its an awesome strategy board game with arcade influences! I would love to see an updated version that would allow online play! I can see it on Xbox Live and on PS3 Online as well as the granddaddy of them all, The PC. Remember how there were certain areas of the board that kept shifting from black to grey to white and back again to grey and black? If you were the white side your characters powers were stronger when it was light grey to white, equal to the black side when the area was grey and then weaker when the square got darker and darker. There was so many ways to win the game. Matter of fact, I am gonna pull out my C64 out of storage after I finish typing this and take the trip back in time! I'm going to see if its exactly the same as the emulator or better. Thanks for reminding me of the good ol days! Fuetaso
Daily News Brief: If You Can Read This, You're not Playing Halo 3!

Hey guys, could you explain the Hard Drive freezing trick? how does that make the hard drive work one more time for data retrieval? I also want to know from you super IT experts: I was hanging out in the back area of a company with the cleaning crew and saw a bucket of cold water filled with hard drives. I was shocked! These were WD 160 gig se hard drives, 400gigs, etc. even a couple of seagate drives and some laptop drives. Whats the purpose? why drench it it cold water? My first thought was "to make sure that the data can never be recovered" but when I heard about the freezer trick I wanted to know if the "drowning Hard Drives" was another trick. Hit me with your wisdom! Fuetaso
FISA Taken Out Behind Shed, Shot

We need to be concerned about this because this will allow the government to hack (aka Backdoor) into ISP's and be able to sniff packets etc. etc. Yes if you are not doing anything regarding terrorism then you should not be worried. However this could also lead into the government getting more control of the internet and the data that flows through the Net. Like it was mentioned before, if the Government wants to destroy someone (remember this act is broad, not just for terrorism) this will make it easier for them. The Internet under government control is a scary scary thing. Fuetaso
Filesharing and National Security

Like many have already posted, this is just another tool for the government and their high paying lobbyist pals to find a way to over-regulate or takedown a thorn on the side of RIAA without them having to spend the tons of money on lawyers. Only a dumb, idiotic government employee would install limewire on a government computer or take sensitive documents home in their flash drives and put it on their home computers. I used to service high speed network scanners and copiers for DoD. I was amazed at the little knowledge and idiotic mistakes their IT people made. I underwent a 4 hour declassification procedure before I was allowed to enter the "clean room" to work on their equipment that was brought out to me in that room. I could not believe the mistakes they kept making that I had to correct and show them (mind you I am NOT Certified but I am a MaximumPC Maniac from waaaay back before the Boot days!)I kept thinking to myself "are these Bozos the ones protecting the sensitive data?" I swear I started seeing them with red noses and big clown shoes. I agree that they are just trying to blame the masses and stick their mistakes in the pile and call it a day, the old "Shift the blame" technique when we all know that they can block all of that easily with a simple device known as Cymphonix.
