Asus' Redesigned Eee PC 1002HA Netbook is Slimmer and Lighter

Posted 12/03/2008 at 01:56:42pm

Those 3 and 6 cell batteries are just normal batteries. (think of a C cell) which are really cheap and a much older technology.

The one in this one is a lithium polymer (lipo) which are smaller and provide a much higher capacity.  For a idea, look at the battery in your cell phone.

I've been waiting for a netbook to have one of these batteries so it can remain small and have a decent run time.

In the review can you check if the firmware will be upgradable to include new, and updated codec's for the future.

Also I see people complaining about the lack of network support already.  A simple solution might just be a usb network adapter, since one of the 2 usb ports can be spared.

MSI Wind Invities Overclocking with BIOS Update

Posted 10/24/2008 at 01:38:51pm

I'm sure at least 1/4 of the people buying these netboooks are geeks.  I bought one just to mess around with and I love.  Still don't have a actual use for it, but I still love it.

I'm also sure a good part of those geeks would overclock their wristwatchs if given the chance,  Hats off to msi for being the first, and maybe a slight overclock would be extremely safe while getting significant gains. I use my mostly for browsing the net, and it can be slow at times.

Thanks for linking the article. It was a intersting read. I wish they would have tested a regular thermal pad also to show the difference thermal compounds really make. Maybe this is something maximumpc can test out in the future.

More than Surface Appeal

I saw a demo of this almost a year ago from the original company that was creating the software, and it's great to see it take off through a larger company, but this is going to extend Microsofts monopoly that much more, with the way it integrates with your cell phone and pocketpc and all that. Guess whose technology it will be compatible with. Another major problem that will come up down the road will be the strain on everyone's neck if they start to use this as a primary pc for any extended amout of time. It's still a great technology, and I'm looking forward to see how this will change things in the future. The desktop is really starting to get old, and most other solutions have been a joke so far.

PC + Digital Cable = Not Ready for Prime Time

I think a big problem with new technologies is they make everything idiot proof and plug and play. Im not saying it's a bad thing, in fact it's very good, but the problem is when it does go wrong it's getting next to impossible to fix becuase they hide whats really going on in the background making it harder to dig out.

Now that you've crossed over to the car side of things the next step would be to combine the two in a carputer project.

Lately I have been purchasing Hp laserjet printers for my company and they always work flawless. There bottom of the line bubblejet printer on the other hand are built so cheap they don't even last a year before I have to replace them. I look to canon for bubblejet printing and have had good luck with them so far.
