Maximum PC Gets Screwed So You Don't Have To: Ultimate Screwdriver Review Roundup

Posted 09/24/2008 at 09:33:13am

You guys never enven mentioned the Snap-on electric screw driver model CTS561.  Evey tech at my work has one of these, and they are the greatest.  Allows one handed operation, and they are low torque so you dont strip the heads off.  Plus with the battery pack at 90* to the head, they can get into the tightest of places.

OCZ Cuts the Price of Its 64GB SSD Again

The drive that you have there is a different model.  The other drive has since be deactivated by newegg.  Its a shame too, I have a small notebook that I use for work, and was looking to install one of those in it, it gets bumped around a lot riding in my service truck.

You forgot to mention the industrial espionage ordeal that resulted in hundreds of thousands of bad capcitors, that would pop or rupture over time.  I think those were also from China.

Rumor: New Nvidia GPUs use Older Solder Bumps to Avoid Failure

Does the switch to the high-lead soldier mean that nVidia will no longer be in compliancy with RoHS specs?  Its been a while since I looked at what the actual specs were for compliancy, but I thought it was no lead based soldiers or components.

Can I borrow that thing for a day or two so that I can run folding on it.  I would love to see my score with a couple of 1 million point days in there.

Everything Firefox Users Need to Know About Internet Explorer 8

I use the Clear Private Data feature on FF, and I love it.  I have it set to clear everything, as my female cousin likes to show up unannounced and use office on my computer.  That way if she decides to check her mail from this machine I dont have to worry about trying to explain p0rn or what ever else may be lurking in the history.  I know that I could just lock the machine down and giver her a profile but with folding and other programs that I run, I would like to leave it to my ready at a moments notice.

InPrivate Browsing sounds like a nice feature, but I have a simialar feature already turned on in FireFox and its been there since before FF2.  You can have it clear all your private data (cookies, passwords, download history, browsing history, etc.) as soon as you close the browser down.  Its not the exact same as IE8's in that you have to close the browser and not just a window, but it works well enough for me.

RIAA Wins P2P Case Because Defendant Used a File Shredder

Posted 08/31/2008 at 09:57:10am

I am a little bit confused, how can wiping the harddrive be considered evidence tampering.  If the harddrive was considered evidence there should have been a subpoena issued and the drive should have been taken as evidence and a chain of custody filed.  The harddrive would ahve then been stored in an evidence locker somewhere till the trial went forward.   If there was never any mention of the needing then harddrive as evidence, then it being his property he can do what he likes with it.  If it then ends up being needed as evidence, well then its the burden of the RIAA to prove what was on it, and show that it is still on it.

Google's Wireless Plans Invade Contested "White Space"

Posted 08/24/2008 at 06:26:16pm

I know that Shure was interested in a test that was going to be done at FedEx Stadium.  It would be interesting to know what the results of this test are.  I think if the test came back favorable for the technology then Google might have a strong stance with the FCC to allow the spectrum to be opened.  If there was a lot of troubles, then I think the FCC should leave it closed.  As it is, isn't there enough wireless signals buzzing about?
