Sony Admits It’s Being Investigated by U.S. Antitrust Regulators

Posted 10/27/2009 at 07:52:13pm

Sony once again was late to the party.  They "won" the HD DVD war, but it was a hollow victory.  With blazing fast downloads and media PC's, who needs an expensive DVD player?

A Maximum PC Thanksgiving: 17 Things That Make Us Thankful

Not every president has had an aircraft carrier named after them.
Plus, some of the carriers are not named after presidents.
Typically you want a carrier named after a president or someone who has done something good
for the country/military/navy.
(I do not expect Clinton to get one, ever!)
An aircraft carrier has 4.5 acres of sovereign US Territory.
It is a large part of the president’s foreign policy.
(Park an aircraft carrier and its associated airwing off the coast of a country and when it arrives,
the president makes a polite phone call to that country's leader and informs that leader that
there is an aircraft carrier nearby, in case they did not know, and asks him what his problem is.
The president calls it diplomacy. Others may refer to it as something else.  But nevertheless,
unless Obama does something truly signifcant with the Navy, the chances of him having an
aircraft carrier named after him are slim.  I did not say impossible, as anything is possible, just slim.
If history is a good indication of the future, I predict he won't.

Google's Wireless Plans Invade Contested "White Space"

Posted 08/25/2008 at 08:29:17am

I am all for this.  But there is much more to this than what it appears on paper.  Many others use that same spectrum, not just your local church.  One of the biggest is TV news, commonly referred to as ENG(Electronic News Gathering).  They use the spectrum of anywhere between 793-806 MHz.  Also wireless PA systems.  Whatever frequency spectrum that was being used for TV should have no other equipment in there, so utilize that frequency in those areas.  Manufacturers do not need to make different models for different frequencies.  They can make them with "programmable" frequencies.  The term "programmable" is used loosely for all it normally is turning a few selector switches to the correct frequency.

Do not overthink it and make it happen.

No BS Podcast #11 - Updated!

Gentlemen, I just listened to this podcast (#11). You were mentioning the fact that there is never a problem encountered with XP not shutting down properly. (Then you went on to praise Bill's product. Which is surprising even from you guys. . .) Well I beg to differ. I live in Italy and the power is unstable at best. A couple times I had to reload XP after a power hit. The computer power supply and motherboard were fine. I had a firewall and the latest updates installed, plus antivirus. I purchased an UPS and have not had a problem since.
