In fact I think this is probably more the result of the GPU/chipset maker than Intel, because I know both ATI and nVidia have been working on this, and as of yet Intel doesn't make any discrete GPUs.
Although I used to be interested in the EeePC, I realized it's too small for actual use. But this one is mostly usable and even features an LED backlight, which I wish my HP TX2000 had. I'm surprised there's so much functionality in this netbook for the price, owns Asus hands down. A ThinkPad netbook would be cool too, just need to make a matte black version of this with sharp edges and they're set lol.
OK, this is a nice gesture, but what GFWL games are there? I can only think of Shadowrun, and only because the above poster posted it. Halo 2 maybe? I really have little to no interest in either of those games. Now if SC2 includes GFWL I might use it, but other than that I think they should have an out-of-game featureset too, i.e. instant messaging and friends lists, sort of like XFire. They should basically replicate XFire, or just buy it and rebrand it because it's great for communicating in-game for a huge list of games.
If these have a significant impact on battery life or heat, I'd snap one up once they drop to around $100 for 64GB. It might be nice for my laptop. I wonder if there's any way to install one of these alongside a SATA hard drive? That might be nice.
By the way, Meebo uses libpurple, the library that the Pidgin developers made, so it's basically like a web version of Pidgin. I find it kind of funny that Meebo's interface is actually better in some respects than Pidgin.
This would be a lot better for software distribution than DVD, especially since flash memory increases a lot faster than optical disk sizes increase. I really think this is the beginning of the end for optical disks. If this can reach cost levels around that of optical disks soon, there will be no more reason to use them anymore, just put software on WORM USB flash drives, and we can use optical disks only for backup, and eventually phase them out for good.
I'm not exactly clear what a hypervisor is, but is this going to be running while Windows is running? That seems like there's a performance issue involved, but then I only have a vague idea of what a hypervisor is.
280x2 would probably cost twice as much as the 4870x2 though. nVidia has really priced themselves out of the market this generation. A stunning upset by ATI on all accounts.

Indeed. The closer it gets to realisticness the more awkward it looks. But still, at a quick glance I wouldn't notice it was fake.
