The Game Boy: Gamers' Favorite Copout
Posted 08/27/2009 at 10:23:49pm
Um, no.
The Constitution does not put everyone's beliefs and ideas on equal footing.
The Constitution allow people to voice opinions without fear of government reprisal.
It does not render a crockpot's idealogies equal to ideas with actual merit.
Calling someone unintelligent, intolerant and not compassionate when said target fits those models is NOT being intolerant oneself. Otherwise any sort of criticism and debate is rendered useless. Not everyone is correct, not everyone's ideas are good, or worthy or contain merit.
This is called harsh reality.
In Card's case he IS being intolerant. He is using religion as a crutch to defend the notion that two people of the same sex marrying will somehow threaten or pollute HIS moral fiber. This has about as much merit as a recovering alcoholic worried he'll fall of the wagon if someone somewhere else has a drink at a bar.
It's shoddy logic on Card's behalf and the same ploy (but my religion says I must do X!) used for centuries to deny group A from having what group B has.

Wow Stardust, your double speak could break minds.
Arguing against someone else's belief's does NOT make you intolerant.
Not everyone's beliefs or ideas are, should, or can be placed on equal footing.
But please keep painting with that epicly wide brush.

Hack out the disingenuous tone and entitlement complex and you almost have an article here.
Come on MPC, I know you can publish more informative stories than this.
C-, you can do better.
Verizon Pshaws Cablevision's Blazing Fast Broadband

It was nothing to do with the DSL itself - it was the corrosion in the wall sockets. Verizion has a HUGE problem with corrosion in the wiring systems for their phone lines.
I got them to come in and replace the sockets where you plug the phonline into and got a perfect signal afterwards. Now the signal works even when it rains.
Only took about 5 trips to the house to get it figured out...
100th No BS Podcast Spectacular: Nathan's New PC (The Apologies in Advance Edition)

What a fucking fantatic 100th podcast.
Why was this awesome sauce?
It was different, it was creative, it was an awesome change from the norm, it had a lot of colaboration from old faces (thanks Jeremy!) and unbelievably ballsy.
And, damn, Vericonica just racking up the hot points. That voice was amazing! Is that girl bad at anything she does?
Thanks for making this not just another run-of-the-mill episode, or recap and highlight of past episodes, or extra long just for the sake of being extra long.
You guys went above and beyond - and that's why you're Maximum.
Bored Teenage Office Worker Fired over Facebook Entry
Posted 02/27/2009 at 11:13:14am
If I was an employer and I had employees posting on facebook that they were bored at their job, I'd most likely fire them too for not taking the initiative to do more work or talk to their supervisors about doing more work.
When will people learn that you are accountable for your actions and what you say, especially when it's publicly posted?
The entitlement complexes that people develop amaze me.
We Have the Power! Solar Panel Efficiency Reaches Magical 25%

Until solar panels are cheap enough (or subsidized enough) that *everyone* will have 5-6 on their roof.
Hello seriously-reduced-strains on the power grid.
Get Straight to the Good Stuff, YouTube Enables Deep Linking in Videos

It just takes me to Youtube, not a video, nor 1 minute and 44 seconds into said video.
Thoughts?
Mythic co-founder "Hates Gold Sellers With Every Fiber of His Being," Plans to Crush Them in Hilarious Ways

Unlockables don't alter the gameplay in any significant form. They do introduce slightly new strategies in how those weapons could be used - but really, Kritzkrieg over the normal uber? No thanks. Backburner versus losing the airblast ability? No thanks. The Natasha audio sounds neat, but the damage loss isn't worth it.
You might as well complain that the introduction of new maps give people who play more, more time to become familiar with the maps, and thus have an advantage of those that play more causually.
TF2 is still very much a team vs team FPS frenzy. None of that has gone away in any form or fashion.
I reckon you actually have the 18-24 problem.
