No BS Podcast #38: The Hard Drive Edition

Posted 10/22/2007 at 07:26:40am

AFter so long, I have finally found out what is causing the dam sound problems with the podcast for me (the mp3 version). If I have the SRS WOW Effects on then there is cutting out in the sounds about every 1 1/2 seconds, If I turn it off its gone. This is of course in Win Vista Ultimate, WMP version 11.0.6000.6344. I have no extra codecs downloaded or anything this is just purt WMP. So im sure the problem is not with any downloaded codecs. So now maybe you guys can get in touch with M$ and get this problem fixed. Thanks alot. Your loyal Listener, -Joe-

"Mailto:" and Other URI Threats May Target Everyone

IE7 offers the ability to report suspicious websites by being on the page. Maybe they should have a way to report just the link in an email. That way you dont have to put yourself in harms way to report it. Then again, if you didnt expect and email from someone then you should never open it. I get all kinds of offers from my credit card company thru email but I never open one. Second, if an offer seems to good to be true, then it is. If you didnt enter for a prize then you probably havent "won" anything but trouble, if you click the link. edited..I got way off topic there -Joe-

Comcast Caught Filtering Bittorrent and Lying About It

Posted 10/22/2007 at 06:49:31am

After telling my boss to use Bittorrent to download a copy of Linux, and him telling me it took 2 days, I was beginning to wonder what the problem was. Indeed Bittorrent is used for illegal things, but so are cars, does that mean everyones drivers licence should be revoked? I have to say tho, if I owned an ISP company. I would want to have full rights to say what can be used on it. I have used Comcast for along time and I have to say it has been the best ISP I have ever had. Of course I dont sit and download alot of illegal stuff, but I do use alot of traffic playing WOW all day. As for the WoW patches, I have had no problems. Mine download at my maximum bandwidth. So your problem may be elsewhere. Just some random thoughts on the matter. - Joe -

Wow, this is the first Intel based machine I have ever built. Never did I think it was going to be my last. I mean, what is this "..we are not going to compete for the performance line.." crap. I mean did the merger go that bad? Its like a bad episode of the show punked or something. Ok, a little drama there but Im sure that i am not the only one that feels this way. Come on AMD where is that underdog spirit that brought you guys up from being the underdog?! Just my thoughts at the moment, sry its my bet-time. One of those last minute posts, lol.

I wonder if that is why my WoW has been crashing lately? I would hate to mess my system up even worse by downloading a patch that I do not need.

Private Censorship on the Net

I agree, if I own a server, you dam well bet that I will have control over what goes on on the site. The website /b/ is not stoping you from posting porn, you can still post it, just not on thier site. Just like my truck and smoking, I am not saying that smelly smokers cant smoke, just not in my truck. Except its not a law, and my dad wont listen to me...oh well time to goto the cleaners.. I do not though, want an ISP choosing what i can and cannot view, as long as its legal. If my ISP started doing that I would be screwed, because they are the only broadband in town, except for like Satellite. If i want to watch anti-Bush, or anti-Clinton videos, that should be up to me. I will no tolerate an ISP "mothering" me. Can anyone say capitolism.... By the way, keep up the good work Erin. Sometimes I wonder if we are in America anymore, having to battle for our freedom, from our own people. Just my opinion. If i was a member of Digg, I would digg this post.

FISA Taken Out Behind Shed, Shot

I dont think the problem here is the program its self. To me, its the method in which they have done it. I have posted many times about how much I dont care if people listen to my phone calls and read my email, exspecially if it will help keep people safe. I dont think the goverment needs limits on spying tho, that would just give terroist a cover to hide under. As far as the Attorney General goes, this country and the World for that fact is at war. Secrets are a part of war. They have to. As far as lieing goes, where does this quote come from, "I did not have sexuall relations with that woman". Yes it was another lieing politic. Sorry for the bad grammer and all its time for me to goto bed, gotta work tonight.
