Now, I know this is before alot of you were even born, but... Back around '90, there was this miniatures/board game from FASA called Battletech, though most of you would remember it better by its electronic versions - Mechwarrior. FASA released an expansion back then called The Clans, with all new tech, better weapons & equipment, and better pilots or mechwarriors than what the game had previously. Two things happened. Most of the existing players jumped on the bandwagon to use the new toys, with most of the remaining players whining about how the Clans were too powerful a factionand it was unfair and no fun. A few of us did neither. We adapted our tactics (read - USED tactics) and continued to kick ass... names didn't matter! That's how I play pc games today. I want to be challenged and surprised, and not just by uping the number of monsters while cutting down on the amount of ammo.
If the game is "too hard" for you, practice! Adapt your play style and find a way to win. Just stop whining...

The bare bones of it is that, with an ecomony in the dumpster for the forseeable future, Blu-Ray is just too expensive for the average movie buff when compared to the alternatives.

You should be careful who you dis about the right to "flame" the government. I only spent 6 years serving in the Air Force as a security specialist, but I did my time. Have you? I've earned the right, in fact it's the duty of every American, to call our government to the carpet when they go too far. If you want to stick your head in the sand, singing "la-la-la-la everything the government does is right", feel free, but don't expect everyone else to see it the same way. At one time, we had the best government in the world, but now the jury is out deliberating on that. If we do not keep the government working for us, we will no longer have a government worth having, and this will not be the best place in the world to live anymore.

"Identification Papers, please!" anyone? The greatest damage of 9/11 isn't war or increased costs of oil or anything like that. It's the loss of our personal rights and freedoms to a government that is out of touch with the public, and a public that continues to allow it all to happen.

The subtle ads wouldn't bother me at all, as I doubt I'd notice during the heat of battle, and I don't have issue with advertising in games if it helps keep the costs down. However, like mentioned in the article, the first time my gaming adrenaline is interupted by "a word from our sponsor", they will get the complete game mailed to them in the ashes of whatever they were trying to sell me.

Get over your hate for all things "not part of the 90% norm" and unwind a bit. My Firefox 3 had the same issue as well for a couple days. I just accepted it and moved on, knowing it didn't affect the balance of the universe or the air speed of the yellow tailed swallow...

So you've never heard of the Galactic Civilization series? Granted, they may not be "top shelf" console games or "big name" shooters, but they do make several different games that have very high quality and excellent playability. If you like space games or the Civ series, these are excellent examples.
So, yes, he does have the right to make a statement on the subject.
