Who grants these patents and how big of a bribe or kickback do they get? I bet Microsoft slipped a hundred thousand or so under the table for that one.
New Nvidia drivers need to be classified as ad ware because they install shortcuts for the Portal demo through Steam on your desktop without asking.
I feel it is a bad trend that drivers for your expensive hardware now include ads.
That it plasters
"Windows Vista (TM)
Evaluation copy. Build 6001"
on my desktop with out prior warring that it would do so kind of pisses me off to tell the truth. I beta tested SP2 for Windows XP and never ran into this.
I know I am running the SP1 RC Beta and don't need to be reminded about it every time I look at my desk top for the next two or three months. It gets very annoying really quick. I tried disabling it with Vista Manager (a tweak program) with no effect. Does anyone know how to disable it?
A search of The Microsoft Knowledge Base came up with nothing.
After I ran the stand alone update my desktop now says
"Windows Vista (TM)
Evaluation copy. Build 6001"
On the desktop. So now the full version of vista is turned into a evaluation copy?
While the readme file says the SP1 beta has a expiration date, it says nothing about turning your expensive software into an evaluation copy.
I think its quite funny all the bad press Maximum PC gives Vista, then comes out with a you gotta have Directx 10 issue (Oct 2007) and put Vista Ultimate on Dream machine 2007 (Sept 2007) issue.
Whats Maximum PC's position? Thumbs up or thumbs down?
