Trying to stream HD video into your living room or man cave can test the boundaries of your wireless home network and introduce unwanted lag or ugly jitter. That's a bummer, but if you're having trouble connecting multiple media center devices to your high-speed network, TRENDnet's new TEW-680MB media bridge might be the no-fuss solution you're looking for.
The TEW-680MB is a dual-band media bridge that TRENDnet says is a first of its kind to network up to four media center devices over a 450Mbps wireless connection. There are four wired ports on the back of the unit for you plug in your Internet TV, game console, media player, and whatever else you have floating around in your entertainment center. Assuming you have a dual-band router, you can then configure the TEW-680MB to communicate over the low interference 5GHz channel, leaving the 2.4GHz channel wide open for your notebook, tablet, and other devices (or vice versa).
"The TEW-680MB meets real market demand and completes TRENDnet’s 450Mbps wireless ecosystem," stated Zak Wood, Director of Global Marketing for TRENDnet. "Other brands only offer a 450Mbps router. However you also need a 450Mbps wireless adapter or bridge to maintain 450Mbps wireless speeds. TRENDnet is the only brand to offer 450Mbps routers, adapters, and bridges which empower users for the first time to create a whole-home 450Mbps wireless network."
Other highlights include one-touch wireless security setup using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button, up to WPA2-PSK encryption, diagnostic LEDs, and Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) Quality of Service (QoS) data prioritization.
The TEW-680MB is available now for $170 (MSRP).
