Device makers are banking on smartwatches being the next big thing, and while we wait for a verdict, LG has begun shipping its G Watch to a global audience. The LG G Watch is one of the first to sport Google's Android Wear platform and is the only one so far to feature a button-free design with a display that's always-on. That means you can keep up with what's happening in your connected world with a simple glance at your wrist.
A pair of renowned overclockers used an EVGA graphics card to blast through the 2GHz barrier en route to setting a new 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme world record. Vince "K|GNP|N" Lucido and Illya "Tin" Tsemenko accomplished the feat with an EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti graphics card plugged into an EVGA X79 Dark motherboard and powered by an EVGA brand (what else?) power supply.
Business upgrades from Windows XP will help prop up the PC market
Sometimes down but never out, traditional PCs have been doing more than just hang around, they've been leading the market despite slumping sales. Looking into next year, Gartner predicts that tablets will outsell combined desktop and notebook systems for the first time, though if you look at the market as a whole, the worldwide PC market is on the verge of a revival after dipping 9.5 percent in 2013.
Chinese PC vendor Lenovo’s $2.3 billion acquisition of IBM’s low-end server business has won the approval of Chinese Ministry of Commerce's anti-monopoly bureau, according to news agency Reuters. However, this is only half the battle. Well, Microsoft is willing to help.
New single-board computer from Israeli company to begin shipping later this month
Israel-based Solid Run is now taking orders for a single-board computer that is reportedly capable of fitting into any third-party case designed for the hugely popular Raspberry Pi. Looks and size aside, the HummingBoard, as the diminutive PC is called, is much more powerful than its storied rival.
Demand for notebooks and enterprise desktops expected to pick up
Currently in the throes of an unrelenting downward spiral, the global PC market is desperately overdue for some good news, but turning the corner after eight straight quarters of global shipment decline is not going to be easy. Nevertheless, a number of key players in the PC market remain hopeful of encountering some solid demand in the second half of 2014.

She's had her share of legal issues, but this time she's the one suing -- Lohan is taking Take-Two Interactive and subsidiary Rockstar Games to court for allegedly using her likeness for an in-game character in Grand Theft Auto V.
HTC One (M8) sales helped get the company back in black
It's been several years now since HTC was on top of the world as the most active player in the Android space. During that time, it seemed HTC had a license to print money as each quarter yielded a bigger profit than the last. But the good times came to an end when Samsung rose to prominence in the Android space, and more often than not, HTC posts a loss these day. Not last quarter though. HTC is once again profitable and it has its One (M8) handset to thank for that.
