We audition several streaming music services and give you the low down on each one
A candidate for the world's oldest known instrument is the Divje Babe Flute carved from the femur of a cave bear over 40,000 years ago. Replicas proved it was capable of two and a half octaves, or three if overblowing. Over time, musical instruments would become more sophisticated, as would the songs, but one thing that hasn't changed is the inherent love of music that nearly all human beings seem to possess.
And you thought the Halloween costumes you saw were good
October in the UK brings the cold and the rain, but thankfully this past weekend at the London MCM Comic Con expo, the cosplayers powered through the weather and showed up in full force, sporting some amazing costumes, ranging from the completely terrifying to the remarkably sweet and adorable. Outfits covered the gamut of everything in between games and comics.
We stepped out onto the battlefield, and lived to talk about it
To commemorate yesterday’s release of Battlefield 4, EA held a BF4 launch party at its Redwood Shores campus. The event had jets flying over head, free beer/snacks, and even an old war plane you could hop into. We had the opportunity of going and brought along our camera. 21 spooky gaming moments to spice up your Halloween
We've all had moments during a particularly awesome scary PC game where we've been caught by surprise. We've had moments of sheer terror, when our hearts find their way into our throats and make a home there, and the sweaty, shaking hands to prove it. We keep going back though, because we want more.
You gotta love technology. Every solution seems to cause a new problem, which then inspires another solution, which causes yet another problem. I’d conclude that engineers are as skillful as lawyers at perpetuating their own profession, except I don’t want to insult the engineers.
What time is it? It's time to build a PC with our Blueprints! This month, we've built three rigs at three approximate price points: Baseline, Performance, and Ultra. Baseline gets you a powerful that is suitable for gaming and content creation at 1080p, Performance beefs everything up across the board, and Ultra is the kind of rig you build when price is no object.
These rigs are lab-tested and editor-approved. Feedback is, of course, welcome. Tell us what you think!
For years, we’ve been touting the virtues of KeePass Password Safe, a free open-source program for storing all your website passwords and associated notes behind a single master password. And to synch KeePass across multiple machines, we’ve been recommending that readers store the encrypted database on Dropbox. However, we got to wondering whether the popular browser-based password manager LastPass was a superior, one-stop solution. So this month, we invited the two free password trappers to duke it out for bragging rights.
