Move over Apple and make room for Samsung.

In what could be a win-win-lose situation for Samsung, Best Buy, and Apple, the Korean electronics maker announced today that it will open up Samsung Experience Shops in 1,400 Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile specialty stores across the U.S. These shops within a shop will allow customers to explore, purchase, activate, and receive service on a wide range of Samsung mobile products and accessories.

Enermax Adds Coenus Case to Mid-Tower Lineup

Enermax named its sci-fi looking case after a Greek general.

Coenus is remembered as a faithful and fearless general of Alexander the Great, and nearly 1,700 years later, he finally has a computer case named after him. Would he approve of Enermax's namesake chassis? That's something we'll let the scholars debate, but as far as we're concerned, the latest mid-tower from Enermax looks like a solid option on paper (we haven't played with one in person), provided you're a fan of the aggressive aesthetics.

Gartner: Tablet Sales Will Top Traditional PCs By 2017

Decline in PC sales isn't a temporary trend, Gartner says.

Four years from now, most of us will have traded in our desktop and notebook PCs for a tablet, or maybe we'll all just use smartphones for computing chores. Don't believe it? Neither do we, though that's the picture the forecasting artists at Gartner painted today by predicting a steady decline in traditional PC sales over the next several years, only to be leapfrogged by tablet shipments in 2017.

The Apricorn Velocity Solo X2 is designed to do one thing and one thing only: let you upgrade your boot drive to a SATA 6Gb/s SSD on a system that doesn’t have any of them newfangled ports. Living in a world filled with PCs that could be used in the space program, it’s not a problem we encounter very often, but we can certainly understand its utility where an older motherboard is involved.

Even with prices going up, it's still a great time to be a PC gamer.

Yesterday we told you that desktop DRAM pricing is on the rise as contract chip prices have already jumped 50 percent in 2013, spiking 20 percent in March alone, and now we're hearing that graphics cards are getting more expensive.

Graphics cards aren't just getting more powerful by the generation, they've also grown in size over the last several years. Depending on your case, you might even need to remove a drive cage to accommodate a longer graphics card, though that's not likely to be a problem with Asus' new GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU Mini. Living up to its "Mini" nomenclature, Asus claims it's the only small form factor (SFF) GTX 670 money can buy.

Google Readies Thinner Nexus 7 Tablet for July Release

Another Nexus 7 tablet is just around the corner.

One of the rumors floating around the web today is that Google is planning to launch an upgraded version of the Nexus 7 this summer (specifically, in July). The next generation Nexus 7 is said to feature a thinner bezel and a higher resolution than the current model, which wields an IPS panel with a 1280x800 resolution.

GammaTech on Tuesday announced that its semi-rugged and ultra-mobile Durabook model CA10 tablet is now available to purchase. That's provided you're willing to spend $1,299 (MSRP) on a slate that's built for people who don't work in typical office environments. Unlike your run-of-the-mill tablet, the Durabook CA10 meets various military standards for dust, water, drops, shock, and temperatures as low as 0 degrees.

You could store over a million songs on Seagate's 4TB hard drive.

A representative for Seagate dropped us a note today to let us know the company is now shipping what it claims is the industry's first and only 4TB hard drive to utilize 1TB-per-platter technology. According to Seagate, the four-platter design is a winning one that allows for the highest performance possible while doubling capacity and reducing costs, ultimately giving consumers the best of all worlds.

DRAM makers are shifting focus from desktop RAM to mobile memory.

Growing demand for mobile devices like smartphones and tablets is prompting memory chip suppliers to commit more capacity to mobile DRAM parts. With only so much capacity to go around, DRAM production for PCs is dropping, resulting in a sharp spike in contract prices. What all this means is that if you spot a good deal on RAM and are in need of an upgrade, go ahead and pull the trigger.
