Wikipedia now offers books. Let us repeat: Wikipedia, the world's largest online encyclopedia of community content, is now letting users create custom printed books from over 3 million articles in English alone, courtesy of PediaPress, a partner of Wikipedia.

"The service provided by PediaPress is an extremely important way of making sure that the free educational content of Wikipedia is available to all, everywhere, in areas with connectivity and without. Books made with the PediaPress service are a great asset to further the mission of Wikipedia: allow every single human being to share in the sum of all human knowledge," says Jimmy Wales, Internet entrepreneur and founder of Wikipedia.

To use the service, simply navigate to Wikipedia.com and click on the Create a Book link in the left nav bar under Print/Export. Mash the Start book creator button and then browse Wikipedia as you normally would. When you come upon a page you want to insert into your custom book, just press the Add this page to your book link at the top. You can rearrange pages however you wish.

The total price will depend on how many pages you've added, with $8.90 serving as the starting point. It takes about two working days for books to be processed for shipment.

"One of our personal projects is to bring affordable quality textbooks to corners of the world, where education is still a luxury for the few," says Heiko Hees.
