So OpenPeak's OpenTablet 7 doesn't come with the kitchen sink, but it has damn near everything else. Touchscreen? Check. HDMI output? Check. Onboard USB, Bluetooth 2.1, and LED backlighting? Check, check, and you betcha.
"The OpenTablet is the ultimate control panel, delivering the most commonly accessed multi-media services right to your fingertips anywhere," said Dan Gittleman, CEO of OpenPeak. "The all-in-one device allows you to sync schedules, check movie times, listen to music, watch videos, get weather updates, and even monitor energy usage and home security, all from a single, easy-to-use device."
The 7-inch multi-touch tablet is built around Intel's next-gen handheld and tablet platform codenamed Moorsetown. OpenPeak says the device is just as slim and unobtrusive as a photo frame, measuring 9 x 5 inches and just 0.59 inches thick. And probably the most unique attribute is the inclusion of "dual cameras for capturing both high-definition video and still images."
OpenPeak says it expects multiple branded customers to adopt the OpenTablet and start shipping product in the second half of this year.
