MSI continues to flesh out its gaming laptop line, the newest entry being the 15.6-inch GE620DX notebook with an Intel Core i7 2630QM processor clocked at 2GHz, GeForce GT 555M graphics with 2GB of dedicated video memory, and up to 8GB of DDR3 memory. On the outside, MSI looks to impress with a brushed metal finish adorned by the "MSI" logo in luminescent white script.
With built-in 3D support and some serious muscle under the hood, MSI’s Wind Top AE2420 3D offers a tantalizing view of the future of this form factor. A 2.8GHz Core i7-860, 4GB of RAM, an ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5730 graphics part, Wi-Fi, and 1TB of SATA2 storage make this a solidly conceived all-in-one PC, even if it feels a wee bit unpolished.
Remember when thin and light laptops were underpowered machines incapable of all but the most basic of tasks? Neither do we, not since the deluge of ultraportables with Core i5/i7 guts and other modern amenities, like USB 3.0. Both of these technologies have been shoved into MSI's X460 and X460DX, the newest additions to the company's X-Slim Series of notebook computers.
A little less than a month ago, Nvidia unveiled its GeForce GTX 560M graphics processor, the first gaming notebook GPU in the chip maker's GeForce 500M Series and currently the company's fastest mobile graphics part. MSI was one of the OEMs who committed to building laptops around the new part, and making good on its promise, MSI just unveiled its GT780 gaming notebook, which it describes as "the dream machine long awaited by gamers worldwide."
MSI dabbles in both motherboards and graphics cards (as well as other components and products), and maybe that gives them an advantage when it comes to building boards for AMD's upcoming Fusion processors. Whether or not that's the case, MSI isn't bashful about laying claim to the "world's fastest mainboard with integrated graphics," the newly released A75MA-G55 built around AMD's FM1 socket.
MSI's always touting how overclockable its graphics cards are, making a big deal about Military Class components, all solid capacitors, custom cooling solutions, and other features. Turns out the graphics card wasn't just blowing a bunch of hot air. MSI's N580GTX Lightning was used to set the single-card, single-core world record for the highest GPU frequency, while the company's N560GTX-Ti was used to set the higher core frequency of any GTX 560 Ti card.
MSI has begun shipping two new gaming laptops in North America, the company announced Monday. The company’s latest gaming laptops, the GT780R and GX780, are both 17-inchers that feature SteelSeries keyboards specially designed for gamers. Details after the jump.
Being first isn't always something to brag about. First in line to drink the funny smelling punch at an ominous cult meeting comes to mind, and there's no prize (or second date) for yelling "First!" during a one-night stand. Don't you hate it when leaked pictures of future products pop up on the web, but they turn out all blurry like a kid with a $10 Kodak snapped the photos? Yeah, we do too, but luckily that isn't what we have here. Mysteriously manifesting out of the deepest corners of cyberspace are several closeups of MSI's upcoming Bulldozer board, the 990FX-GD6A.
There should be an actual rule, not just an unwritten one, that if a manufacturer pitches a new product as a bargain or, in this case, carrying a "friendly price," said company should, oh, maybe disclose that price? We're thinking out loud here, but that seems fair to us. In any event, MSI announced
