We have both good news and bad news to share with HTC One X owners today. Starting with the former, HTC said it's issuing an over-the-air (OTA) update that will include an upgraded version of Android and an improved Sense experience. So what's the bad news? It's not a Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) update, just an improved version of Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0.4), albeit one that brings with it some neat improvements.
All-in-one PCs have become quite popular lately, with their shipments consistently growing at a faster rate than that of run-of-the-mill desktop PCs. Despite the impressive growth, vendors don’t seem content with just Windows-based AIOs and have now started experimenting with the form factor. AsusTek’s Transformer all-in-one PC, which dual boots Windows 8 and Android, is a case in point. Then there is the far more unusual Viewsonic VCD22, a 22-inch device that runs Android 4.0 and lacks a battery. But if you think that the VCD22 is the only device of its kind, you’re wrong. Japanese company Kouziro is readying a similar Android-powered AIO/display.
Tosbhia today officially trotted out its AT300 tablet with a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor tucked inside and Google's Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) running the show. The AT300 features a 10.1-inch LED-backlit touchscreen display with a 1280x800 resolution and Gorilla Glass, 1GB of RAM, and either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, upgradeable via a full size SD card slot.
Good news if you own an Amaze 4G smartphone from HTC. For those of you who do, HTC just released an update to Android 4.0, the latest and greatest open source mobile operating system from Google more deliciously known as Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). Owners of HTC's Thunderbolt and Desire HD smartphones aren't as lucky, having to wait perhaps until August, or longer, receive an ICS upgrade, according to HTC's newly published Android 4.0 roadmap.
Summer is fast approaching, and if you're an Android fan, what better treat is there to celebrate the change in season than a delicious Ice Cream Sandwich? Certainly not Gingerbread, yet going by the numbers, that's what the large majority of Android users are chomping on. According to Google's updated Platform Versions website, only 2.9 percent of Android devices are rocking Android 4.0 or later (4.0.2 and 4.0.3).
Owners of the Iconia Tab A200 tablet are able to unwrap Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) today as Acer begins pushing out an Android 4.0 update to its 10.1-inch, Tegra 2-powered slate. The A200 is the first of several Iconia Tab tablets that Acer plans to upgrade in the near-future. The 7-inch A100 and 10.1-inch A500 will both be treated to ICS in April, Acer announced today.
Intel and Motorola might be collaborating to make a splash in the smartphone market with a nifty new device that's been spotted online. An alleged leaked render landed at PocketNow and it shows what is supposed to be Motorola's first ever Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) smartphone, which would also happen to be one of the first Intel-powered handsets.
It seems there are as many questions surrounding the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime tablet as there are answers. When will it be available? Will the combination of an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and Google's Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) result in the best tablet money can buy? And when will Asus roll out an ICS update, anyway? All fair questions, and the answers are still mostly fuzzy.
File this one under 'Y' for 'Yeah, right!,' or 'W' for 'We'll believe it when we see it, playa,' but for the time being, MIPS Technologies and Ingenic Semiconductor are laying claim to the world's first available Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) tablet, the NOVO7. That's not the part that's hard to believe, nor is the fact that it's rocking a 1GHz processor. What we find suspect is that it's selling for less than $100.
Acer tells us its upcoming Iconia Tab A200 will debut "at an affordable price," a claim that's impossible to substantiate until the company actually announces how much it will cost (which it hasn't). What we do know, however, is that it will come packing an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) out of the gate in...November? Perhaps Acer has discovered time travel.
