Memory maker G.Skill is laying claim to the "world's fastest RAM" after an overclocker goosed the company's 
With Intel having finally and officially launched its much anticipated Ivy Bridge platform yesterday, the floodgates have been opened for a new generation of parts and accessories designed to play nice with the Santa Clara chip maker's 3rd generation Core processors. One of those companies is G.Skill, makers of high performance system memory like the new TridentX DDR3 series.
If you've already laid out the dough for a Sandy Bridge-E proc and an X79 motherboard, there's no point skimping on the RAM. Lots of memory is, without a doubt, a good thing; lots of speedy memory is a very good thing. G.Skill's Ripjaws line of high performance RAM has a long history of pushing DDR3 to its limits, and the company continued the proud tradition at the CeBIT exhibition in Germany, where G.Skill showed off what it calls "the fastest quad channel memory" around.
Throwing caution to the wind and dousing his AMD processor and G.Skill Extreme RipjawsZ memory kit in liquid nitrogen, Christian Ney, the well-regarded Swiss overclocker, set a new memory frequency record as recognized by HWBot's Professional Overclockers League. The record for DDR3 memory now stands at 3,736MHz, the highest frequency every achieved, besting the previous record of 3,600MHz.
Oversized air coolers are quickly becoming the norm, and that's great for keeping your CPU chilled to its cores. What's not so snazzy is the footprint that accompany these monstrosities, and in some cases, they can physically interfere with your RAM. It's part of the reason why there are low profile DDR3 memory kits, such as the new Ares series from G.Skill that's available in frequencies up to 2133MHz.
You know that guy who just plunked down a paycheck on a 32GB memory kit and struts around the online block like a peacock with his feathers stretched out? Actually, it's part of G.Skill's RipjawsZ line, but we take no issue if the company wants to use our moniker instead.
G.Skill didn't just make a splash in the memory market by announcing its new RipjawsZ! Extreme Performance quad-channel memory line, it emptied the entire pool by rolling a 64GB cannon ball into X79 waters. The RipjawsZ! are specifically intended for Sandy Bridge-E systems, and if you're stepping up to the 64GB kit, you'll need a motherboard that's able to handle eight 8GB memory sticks.

G.Skill is one of them, and today the memory maker announced what it claims is the world's fastest 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 memory kit rated at 2300MHz at CL9.
