Enter Gigabyte and its new BRIX desktop, a square-shaped PC that fits in the palm of your hand just like Intel's Next Unit of Computing (NUC) device, it sports a stylish glass surface mounted on an anthracite aluminum frame.
It's only been a day since Nvidia announced its GeForce GTX 780 graphics card and as expected, the GPU maker's hardware partners are coming out of the woodwork with custom cooling solutions. We saw it with EVGA and its ACX Cooler, and today Gigabyte is giving us a glimpse of its GeForce GTX 780 OC Edition (GV-N780OC-3GD) graphics card with the latest Windforce 3X dual-slot cooling design.

Gigabyte this week announced the release of its U2442, an "extreme Ultrabook" for gamers with Nvidia GeForce GT 650M or 730M graphics. On paper, there's quite a bit of power packed into a machine that measures 339mm (W) by 233mm (D) by 18.5-21mm (H) and weighs 1.69kg (3.7 pounds) or less, depending on whether it's configured with a solid state drive (SSD) or mSATA SSD and hard disk drive (HDD) combo.
Nvidia has been popping out Kepler cards like a circus clown car since the company launched its 6-series GPUs in early 2012, and now we finally reach the bottom of the GTX barrel with the $150 GTX 650 Ti. This card slots in right below the $230 GTX 660 and has less of everything—less CUDA, less memory (and a narrower memory bus width), and less PCB.

Gigabyte earlier this week announced that it's dual-Thunderbolt boards are the first to implement the Intel Collage display technology. With a BIOS update and special driver, Intel Collage allows compatible boards to drive a 4K Ultra HD picture across four standard 1080p monitors. Thinner motherboards translate into slimmer all-in-one desktops.
Sultan of Star Trek knowledge and Maximum PC Deputy Editor Gordon Mah Ung had an opportunity to see a pair of thin motherboards at Gigabyte's suite at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Gigabyte's GA-H77TN and GA-B75TN are built around Intel's new thin mini-ITX form factor, and as you'll see in the video, they're much slimmer than standard motherboards.

Gigabyte on Tuesday announced support for 4K display resolutions using multiple standard 1080p displays with intel Collage display technology. The new feature comes courtesy of a Intel driver update that Gigabyte claims needs to be individually implemented by motherboard companies before it's made available to end users. One of the key benefits is that a discrete graphics card isn't required.

The do-it-yourself (DIY) market isn't dying by any means, though there are signs it may be shrinking slightly, whether it's because of the economy or the current fascination with tablets and other mobile form factors. Either way, top tier motherboard vendor Asus says it expects motherboard shipments to dip 2.3 percent to 21.5 million units in 2013, after already dropping 5.2 percent in 2012.

The GTX 660 is the first 28nm Kepler board based on a new GPU dubbed GK106, and the final 6-series card to support high-performance features like GPU Boost and SLI. Compared to the GTX 660 Ti, the GTX 660 offers the same 2GB of DDR5 memory, the same 192-bit memory interface, and the same number of ROP units, but loses two SMX units compared to the GTX 660 Ti, giving it just 960 CUDA cores compared to 1,344 in the previous cards (and the 1,536 in the GTX 680). At $230 it’s our new favorite GPU in the price-to-performance category.
