We're on a roll this week! As work wraps up on the November issue (yes, already; mag deadlines are a bear!), we're finding time for the finer things in life, like Episode 177 of the No BS Podcast. And this: a new installment of Forum Feature!
H E X E N is documenting his first-ever mod, a retrofit of Corsair's H100 cooler into an Antec Nine Hundred chassis.
This week's Forum Feature gives pride of place to Bill Owen's amazing Star Trek PC, which is finally finished, packed up, shipped out, and now living in our offices for a few weeks while we cram it full of beautiful top-notch hardware. Then we're gonna bring it to Comic-Con and GIVE IT AWAY. Because we love you. David Gerrold—Maximum PC columnist, science fiction legend, Tribble inventor, commissioner of the case and recipient of its twin—will be at our booth at Comic-Con this year to sign autographs next to his aluminum child.
It's Friday, and we're wrapping up another issue of the magazine. The September issue, to be precise. We know that's a heck of a lead time. We can't wait to show you! While you're waiting to see the 2011 Dream Machine, there are a few things you can do. You can apply to be our boss! Or you could join the discussion on our official forums! Or you could do both!
Check out our Appraisals, Deals & Bargains (oh my!) subforum, otherwise known as the kleinkinstein show. There are appraisals. There are deals. There are bargains. Most of the latter two are posted by the indefatigable kleinkinstein, but you could post some too. You know.
The Break Room is now read-only, and a kinder, gentler off-topic forum, The Studio, has taken its place. Come chill around our virtual water cooler. And don't be a dick. (The Studio is only available to registered and logged-in users)
Bill Owen of MNPCTech fame is building us two Star Trek-themed PCs, one of which we will give away at Comic-Con. With design help from Mike Okuda and our own David Gerrold (who will take home the other PC), both Top Men in the Star Trek world, it's going to be amazing. Follow Bill's build log in the forums!
Check out more great forum threads after the jump!
It's Friday! Fridays are great. Someone should make a song about Fridays.
Anyway. Time for another Forum Feature. It's a short one this week since I'm on a mini-vacation in sweaty Baltimore, but here are a few threads from our official forums that could use your kind attention:
When last we met, I informed you of the existence of the official Maximum PC forums and exhorted you to a) visit and b) report back. If you have done so, thank you. If you have not, there is still time to escape the coming wrath.
Hold on. I've just been notified that we're out of wrath, so you can safely disregard the previous threat. However, if you don't check out today's featured Forum thread, you're missing out on something amazing.
Newer readers of Maximum PC might not know, but we have an official forum! If commenting on individual news posts doesn't fulfill your need for community, you can hop over to the forums, where we have discussion boards for every topic under the sun, from hardware to software, media to malarky, Linux to linedancing. Okay, maybe not linedancing.
After the jump: Some threads and sub-forums to get you going.
