AMD on Monday followed up the launch of its ATI FirePro V8000 by releasing a handful of new additions to the FirePro family, including the V7800, V5800, V4800, and V3800, as well as the low-profile, quad-display FirePro 2460 Multi-View.
"AMD’s new ATI FirePro workstation graphics cards are the world’s first to support up to four monitors on a single card – enabling increased productivity for professional graphics users," said Janet Matsuda, senior director, Professional Graphics, AMD. "Our new ATI FirePro family delivers new value at every price point."
Sitting on the higher-end of the totem pole, the single-slot V7800 comes with 2GB of GDDR5 memory and offers 4.5x the computing capability over prior generation card. It's capable of driving up to 3 independent 30-inch displays, supports DirectX 11 and OpenGL 3.2, and has been optimized and certified for many major CAD and DCC applications, AMD says.
The V5800, meanwhile, drops the RAM down to 1GB and offers 2.5x the computing capability over previous gen cards, while the V4800 kicks things up over last gen cards by 1.25x.
