The Revue’s utility in no way justifies its $300 price tag. And while Dish Network customers can buy the device at the subsidized price of $180, they’ll forever pay a $4 per month “DVR integration fee” to get full use of it.






Dish Network has revised the plans for its recently purchased Blockbuster video rental business. After originally saying that about 1500 stores would remain open, with 90% employee retention, the satellite provider is backtracking. The company CEO is now claiming that only profitable stores will remain open.
As AT&T fights valiantly to save its $39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile USA, at least one company is waiting in the wings for it to fail. America’s second largest satellite TV provider, Dish Network may enter into a partnership with T-Mobile to form a more robust carrier. It just so happens that Dish has gobs of the one thing that T-Mobile is lacking: wireless spectrum.
You might recall the secret bidding war for Hulu that has been whispered about over the last few months. Wondering what ever happened with that? Well as it turns out, quite a lot. Several tech giants placed bids including Google, Amazon, Yahoo, and Dish Network. Hulu’s owners are now mulling the offers, but Dish is in the lead.

Netflix is seemingly weakened in the market right now. The unpopular price hikes have just gone into effect, and now the Starz deal has collapsed. According to Bloomberg, Dish is taking the opportunity to ramp up plans for its own Netflix competitor using assets acquired from Blockbuster. Does it have a chance?
Satellite billionaire Charlie Ergen, who owns Dish Network, outbid at least three other suitors in pursuit of Blockbuster in a bankruptcy auction, Reuters reports. That means Dish Network, the second largest U.S. satellite TV provider in the U.S. (behind DirecTV), now owns Blockbuster, for which it will pay around $320 million. What will this mean for Dish Network?
