Instead, this machine is all business, "crafted for professionals" looking for a "powerful, secure, energy efficient yet easy to use computer to tackle everyday office tasks," Lenovo says. Sounds like a snoozer until you realize it's (optionally) powered by an AMD FX Series processor and up to 16GB of DDR3 memory.

A few months ago, a company called BlueStacks announced it would be developing software that allows user to run Android apps on a PC. To everyone’s surprise, BlueStacks has followed through, and the alpha version of the App Player for Windows is available as a free download. This hefty 116MB installer comes with 10 pre-loaded apps and the ability to install more. 
Dell is calling its new Inspiron One 2320 all-in-one PC the "ultimate stay-connected desktop for families" equally suited for hammering away at homework assignments, keeping track of expenditures, and for watching movies and music. Pitching the homework angle might prove a tough selling point for school age kids, even if it makes mom and pop smile, but there's plenty more you can do with it.
Samsung’s upcoming Series 7 notebooks are characterized by their sleek design and distaste for corpulence. So it’s no surprise that when Sammy decided to produce an all-in-one (AIO) PC under the said brand, it also chose to adopt the same design principles for the desktop as its Series 7 mobile brethren. Last month, Toshiba ended its decade-long absence from the desktop market with the 21.5-inch DX1210 all-in-one (AIO) PC. Now the electronics conglomerate has effectively doubled the size of its AIO lineup by adding another product to it. Intel has begun shipping two next-generation “Cedar Trail” Atom chips, to wit the D2700 and D2500. As the ‘D’ in their names suggests, both the new chips are aimed at entry-level desktops and all-in-on PCs. This comes despite rumors of Cedar Trail-D chips for nettops being delayed until November along with their netbook counterparts. Hit the jump for more.
In a typically detailed post on the Building Windows 8 blog Monday, the Windows 8 team underlined the advantage of using a Windows Live ID to sign into different Windows devices. According to Katie Frigon, the group program manager of the You-Centered Experience team at MS, doing so will let users have “a truly personal experience that seamlessly bridges their online and offline tasks, is simpler to set up and use, and persists across their set of Windows 8 PCs.” Hit the jump for more.
Google didn't let the Fall season get in the way of its Spring cleaning effort, which saw the sultan of search announce a plethora of project terminations, including Google Desktop, Google Maps API for Flash, and a laundry list of other platforms. Some are being merged into others, and many are closing outright.
