And you thought the Halloween costumes you saw were good
October in the UK brings the cold and the rain, but thankfully this past weekend at the London MCM Comic Con expo, the cosplayers powered through the weather and showed up in full force, sporting some amazing costumes, ranging from the completely terrifying to the remarkably sweet and adorable. Outfits covered the gamut of everything in between games and comics.
Over 60 pictures of cosplay costumes, celebrities, and more from Saturday
Comic Con is one of the most crowded conventions in the world and Saturday is notorious for being the busiest at the San Diego, California event. Included below are over 60 pictures of amazing costumes, celebrities, and more.
We tried our best to identify all the outfits, but there are some that we're unsure of. If you think you know some of the missing links, sound off in the comments below!
Just last month, we put together a gallery of the 20 craziest costumes on display at the PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) Prime 2012 convention in Seattle, Washington, where everything from an unemployed Storm Trooper to a gender-bending Princess Peach could be found wandering the grounds. Now we're switching gears to the opposite side of the continent to bring you another collection of photos, this time from New York Comic-Con 2012, the largest pop culture event on the East Coast.
Like PAX Prime, the Comic-Con show in New York is place where it's perfectly acceptable (and even preferable) to dress up in full garb as your favorite character from a variety of entertainment forms, be it a graphic novel, comic book, video game, television series, or whatever. If you've never been to a cosplay (costume play) convention, put it on your bucket list and thank us later. In the meantime, check out the photos from New York Comic-Con 2012 and thank us now.
There are only a handfull of places you can bump into a laid off Storm Trooper and a dude dressed up in full garb as Princess Peach in the same day. One of those places is the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX), which is a series of gaming festivals held in Seattle, Washington and Boston, Massachusetts. It's a place to celebrate game culture, to let loose and participate in LAN parties and game tournaments, and if you're brave enough, to dress up as your favorite game character.
Cosplay (costume play) is all about having fun, and the guys and gals at PAX do it in spades (and tights and makeup and everything else). If you weren't able to attend the event this past weekend, don't worry, we rounded up a collection of 20 of the wildest, goofiest, and downright craziest costumes to grace PAX Prime 2012. Fair warning, however -- some things you simply can't un-see (don't worry, it's all safe for work), but then again, that's all part of the fun. Enjoy the geek gallery, and be sure to tell us which costume is your favorite!
We may have been down in San Diego helpin' our parent company at the Future / Hyundai Undead booth, but we still found time to shoot some pictures of the weird, the wacky, the far-out, and the excellent among the costumes we saw on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Harley Quinns and Jake and Finns were some of the most common themes this year, but we also saw plenty of Chells, Leias, steampunks, Catwomen, Riddlers, and, well, odder things.
The madness called Comic-Con continues to rage in San Diego, with brave field agents Alan and Nathan reporting live from the chaos. This first batch of Comic-Con 2011 pictures went live yesterday afternoon, and already we're already back with another helping of photographic evidence.

This is it – the post you've been waiting for. After four days of wandering the show floor, sitting in on movie studio panels, and epic line waiting, we've come out of Comic-Con 2009 with the mother load: 600 (yes, SIX HUNDRED) photos of the most intricate, sexy, and spellbinding cosplay that showed up this year. Star Wars and Superheroes were well represented, but we also snapped up shots of PC gaming icons, including several Team Fortress 2 teams and an amazing Left 4 Dead group. Legions of slave Leias weren't afraid to bare their skin and the forces of Cobra proudly showed off their guns. We even saw a bunch of familiar faces from last year's pictorial. Grab and seat, put your day on hold, and enjoy the best cosplay gallery from the best year of Comic-Con ever!

It was a herculean task. Team Maximum PC at this year’s Comic-Con International consisted of only two people, and there was no way we could attend every packed panel at the event. So instead of bringing you movie and television panel reports you’ve probably already read on SlashFilm or AintitCoolNews, we wanted to be your eyes on the show floor. And that meant showing you what stood out most in the 500,000sq ft space of the main exhibit hall: the cosplayers. Our quest to document as many unabashed costumed geeks as we could find yielding 400 photographs of comic-book, anime, fantasy, science fiction, and film characters. We saw dozens of jokers and batmen, numerous video game-inspired outfits, and even steampunk-era Ghostbusters. The impressive level of creativity and enthusiasm that we saw in these cosplayers was an awesome reminder of why we love geek culture. We hope you can appreciate it as well.
Click through for, yes, all four hundred photos -- each in thumbnail and full-rez formats. Can you name all of the characters?
