Five questions with the winner of our $1K PowerColor Devil 13 HD 7990 giveaway
A few months ago we gave away a PowerColor Devil 13 HD 7990, a $1,000+ dual-GPU video card that features two 7970's in CrossFire. The lucky winner of the dual card was Preston Murrell from Marion, Indiana. We wanted to check in with Preston and see what he has done with the Devil 13, so we asked him five questions including what his rig was at the time of winning the video card and if he had ever heard of the Devil 13 video card before entering the constest.
Five questions with the winner of our Maingear/AMD giveaway
Last month we gave away a righteous rig (equipped with a i7-3770K CPU, two AMD Radeon HD 7970s in crossfire, and 8GB ofCorsair Dominator Platinum RAM in a sleek Maingear F131 chassis) courtesy of AMD and Maingear on our Facebook page, and a enthusiastic gentleman named Sean Pisto from Canadia was the lucky recipient of the prize. We asked him to share with us whether or not he thought he was going to win, what his old gaming PC was running, and what it was like to take it out of the box for the first time. The Q&A is posted in the full story!

If there’s one thing readers of Maximum PC can appreciate, it’s a ludicrously sized GPU like the PowerColor Devil 13 HD 7990. This unholy video card combines the power of two Radeon HD 7970 GPUs along with 6GB of RAM into a massive, power-sucking, case-hogging, and benchmark flogging masterpiece. Notable features include one-touch overclocking, a triple-fan cooling solution that takes up three slots inside your PC, and a custom assortment of tools from legendary tool-maker Wiha. It should also be noted that this video card is so muscle-bound that it comes with its own support stand, for Pete’s sake.
Top 5 participants will be flown to Taipei, Taiwan for a shot at the grand prize.

Have you ever thought of your friends and family as sharing traits with an Ultrabook? Neither have we, but Acer hopes you'll be willing to entertain the idea for a chance to win a thin and light Aspire S7 Ultrabook with Windows 8. It's part of a Facebook contest (one that we're in no way affiliated with, but figured we'd give you a heads up) in which you can enter to win a new laptop daily through December 31, 2012.
Few acts manifest the Maximum PC ethos as much as overclocking. Overclockers with something to prove have long been able to post their various benchmarking scores on HWBot to determine the king of the processor-pushing hill; now, that drive for MOAR can earn more than just bragging rights. Gigabyte just announced it has teamed up with HWBot for the "Gigabyte Spring Extreme Competition." Tinkerers with Gigabyte mobos and AMD processors are invited to try to push their systems to the (almost) breaking point, and the three people with the most prolific overclocking prowess will earn brand-spankin'-new Bulldozer-friendly mobos.
If you're fed up with your Droid smartphone and want the world to know about it, you could win one of two Windows Phone devices from Microsoft. And if you're simply jonesing for a Windows Phone without any mobile hate in your heart, you could also win, provided you act fast. Microsoft is celebrating Valentine's Day by giving away a pair of Windows Phone devices with multiple ways to enter.
PC gaming is awesome. Steam is awesome. Getting free stuff is always awesome. Mix all three and what do you get? This year’s Steam Holiday Sale, which kicked off today. In addition to the usual savings, this year’s sale includes multiple daily “Great Gift Pile” challenges, which give you a chance to win additional discounts (and maybe even free games) every day. If you don’t win, you’ll get a lump of coal, instead, which sucks compared to a free game at first glance – but those lumps of coal are the key to the cool things being doled out in the Epic Holiday Giveaway.
Everywhere you turn these days, it seems as though the headlines are filled with horror stories of Android phones riddled with malware. Even apps you snag on Android Market can infect your phone (although those are rare and often quickly removed). Microsoft has been paying attention to the news and decided to kick Google where it hurts with a new social media campaign. Have you been bitten by some Android malware and want to switch to (possibly) greener pastures? If you share your sob story on Twitter, Microsoft might just send you a shiny new Windows Phone as a technological band-aid.
