The MegaUpload fallout continues: while the U.S. government's case for Kim Dotcom's extradition is still slowly winding its way through the New Zealand court system, other file sharing services are scrambling to preemptively batten down the hatches to try and avoid similar sanctions and woes. Today, Dropbox announced it was engaging in CYA action by discontinuing public sharing folders for new Dropbox accounts effective July 31st.
If you’re rocking the Dropbox app on your Android phone, you may have noticed that it updated last night. More than a mere bug fix, said update is instead a full-fledged version 2.0, complete with Ice Cream Sandwich support and a host of new features designed to make using the Dropbox app a smoother, more seamless experience. Looks like Christmas came early for Android users. 
Google is pushing its cloud apps hard to government and business, and the Chrome OS platform relies entirely on these cloud services. So it was more than a little embarrassing when Google Docs went down for about half an hour today for all users. Those looking to get some work done were greeted with an unfriendly-looking 404 and nothing else.
