Benq's XL-Z monitors are specifically intended for FPS gamers
Holy buzzwords, Batman -- Benq is pulling out all kinds of fancy pants terms to describe its new XL-Z series of first-person shooter (FPS) purpose-built gaming monitors. Benq says its XL-Z series monitors have begun shipping, and if you're a gamer -- particularly an FPS gamer -- the company has several reasons why you might be interested in one of its displays, starting with RevolutionEyes technology.

As Intel's Haswell refresh looms, Asus and other mobo players look to other areas to boost profits
Intel is getting ready to refresh its Haswell platform, and when that happens, it should spark some sales in the motherboard industry. Motherboard makers should also get a boost from XP users looking to upgrade their ancient boxes. Despite these market drivers, however, word on the web is that Asus and other motherboard players have begun pushing their other products much more aggressively in hopes of pulling in a bigger profit.

MSI is throwing extreme overclockers a mighty big bone in the form of a motherboard. The company's upcoming Z97 XPower AC mobo will feature a "Delid Die Guard" that's measured to specification and designed to protect the CPU core on processors that no longer have an integrated heat spreader (IHS). In case you're unfamiliar, the IHS is that giant metal slab that covers the top of your processor. It's there to pull heat off of the CPU core, which is then transferred to a heatsink with a bit of thermal goo in between to fill in the microscopic nooks and crannies.

It seems like every PC hardware company on the planet has its own solid state drive (SSD) series -- except for AMD, that is. Rumor has it that's about to change. Word on the web is that AMD is working with Toshiba on a line of AMD brand SSDs. It's not uncommon to outsource such things, and as the rumor goes, Toshiba's building the drive based on the exact specifications AMD came up with.
The answer is $34, which addresses the question of what price AMD's new socketed "Kabini" APUs will debut at. There's also the cost of the motherboard to factor in, so add another $25 to $35. As to when you'll be able to buy these new parts, AMD today announced the global availability of its AM1 platform featuring its quad-core and dual-core Sempron and Athlon APU lineup based on Kabini.

A high capacity hard drive intended for cloud-based data centers
The enterprise market now has another option when it comes to high capacity storage solutions. That's because Seagate announced it's now shipping its 6TB "Enterprise Capacity v4" HDD, which the company claims is the fastest 6TB HDD on the planet. This particular model isn't likely to find its way into consumer homes, as Seagate is targeting enterprise customers who need super sized storage solutions, particularly in data centers that drive cloud services.
