As we approach the end of the year, it looks like Asus will edge ahead of Gigabyte and ship around 2 million more motherboards in 2014, however that victory will come at the expense of a declining profit, which is not something that Gigabyte will have to contend with.

While still a rumor until we catch wind of an official statement or product, there are multiple reports that AMD is planning to launch a version of its Radeon R9 290X graphics card with a massive 8GB of GDDR5 memory on-board. We've actually already seen this with Sapphire earlier this year, though it appears AMD wants to see more hardware partners offer an 8GB SKU, including MSI, hence the upcoming relaunch.

The Purple family of HDDs are intended for video surveillance chores and include some exclusive technologies that make them better suited than competing drives, including AllFrame (reduces video frame loss, improves playback, and increases the number of drive bays supported) and IntelliSeek (calculates the optimum seek speeds for system workloads to lower power consumption and reduce noise and vibration).
AMD has been putting the word out that it recently slashed prices for select A-Series desktop Accelerated Processor Units (APUs). Some of them are fairly significant reductions in price, and they're not just for Kaveri-based APUs, either -- they also include savings for a few Richland and Trinity chips. While Intel's Haswell architecture might have the upper hand in performance, the price cuts combined with superior integrated graphics help AMD stay in the game. Let's have a look.
