I've lost track of how many times the PC has been declared dead.

Tablets, generally, are a reasonable entertainment device. Not too expensive (though I guess that depends on your finances), and with lots of entertainment options. Generally I think they should be treated as such.

To actually DO anything with them you've got to go up a notch though. for example all my note taking at work and school is now done on a galaxy note. Saves me a crapload of time and is a heckuva lot easier to keep intact and organized than a bag full of notebooks and books. Not to shabby for a few benjamins - but I'd still rather have a small laptop that could take its place.

If they can make a stylus capable covertible touchscreen laptop for $200-250, with discrete (upgradeable) SSD & RAM running Linux or W7, THAT would be a tablet killer.

Tablets are an expensive fad and an overpriced toy. Most tablets sit and collect dust after there owners find out useless they are without a lot of expensive additions like a keyboard. A notebook has a lot more power and storage for the dollar. With notebook pricing as it is now why would anyone purchase a tablet?

What a surprise! I am SHOCKED, SHOCKED, mind you! Not to worry as the tablet manufacturers are predicted large growth in sales this year, especially in Kenya and Micronesia.

I just bought an NEW Irulu 7 tablet from Ebay for $53.00 with free shipping that does everything others can do that you pay hundreds of dollars more for.

I just bought a Galaxy S Tab.

This thing is unbelieveable.

You get what you pay for.
