Just checked the new sales, and they are already repeating both daily and flash sales.

For example, Deus Ex: HR was the daily sale 3 days ago and the sale on it ended yesterday, and GTA IV was a daily deal 4 days ago for the same discount as it is on todays daily sale.

Also L4D2 is now a flash sale and has not only been a flash sale before, but it was also a daily deal and even won a community vote. LOL!

Around the time of the Steam sales I always keep an eye on Greenmangaming, Amazon, and even Origin because they normally try and compete with the Steam sale.

During this past Steam Winter sale I bought more from Amazon then I did from Steam, and most of them were Steamworks games, because the prices and/or bundles were better.

This sale all I got from Amazon was Crysis 3 for $17 but from Steam I've bought Just Cause 2, Tomb Raider, Dishonored & DLC, The Creature Slaughter Dome and Psycho pack for Borderlands 2 and Deus Ex Human Revolution & DLC (I think that's all. lol!)

The sad part is I still have games I got during the Winter sale I haven't got around to playing yet. lol!

How do you know you've spent a lot of money on Steam?
Internal conversation goes something like this:
"Oh nice price, too bad I bought it the last time it was on sale, not even halfway done."
"Oh how about that one. Funny page says I own it, I guess I should really play it some time."
"Wow never thought that would be on sale. Oh own it too."
I've done this every day of the sale.
Bought a total of three games so far. Not like I'll ever play them. lol

Think of it as supporting developers who make games that would be awesome to play if you played them.

I hate to admit how closely your comment mirrors my actions, although I have found 8 games, and a bunch of DLC to buy this time.

During last years summer sale I think I only bought two games because I already owned everything else, and then the winter sale I bought a few items but I actually got far more from Amazon because they had some amazing prices and so great bundles that week.

Sorry, double post. Our internet here is very wonky today

That's too funny.. so true.

Picked up Killing Floor because everyone talks about it and compares it to Left for Dead 2 I really like Left for Dead so I'm crossing my finger was only lik 3.99 the only think I don't like is Steam Wallet.
Crysis 2 I might pick up but will I ever play or Finish it LOL.
Dishonored looks good too sorta but some say it's a Bioshock infinite clone.

The Mac

Keep clicking on things and i already own them...

except AC III

still too expensive...

SS 3 will probably show up again. Keep checking or have them send you an e-mail.

I really need to stop coming to this site and reading about Steam sales LOL.

Couldn't pass up Crysis 2 Max Edition for $8.99.

avatar

vrmlbasic

but the non-steamworks DRM...

avatar

ssbowers

Alan Wake is a ripoff at $3.

avatar

Gauntylgrym

Didn't like it, I presume? I think it's a pretty great game, and as such is VERY nice for $3.

avatar

The Mac

i just grabbed the franchise at 3.99...

even if its crap, its only $4.

avatar

DarkStarX

I did the same thing, because at $4 why not give it a shot?

I do this all the times during these Steam sales and more often then not I am pleasantly surprised. Of course I have fewer expectation from a game I pay $4 for then I do for one I pay $60, but still I find that in general I put in more time on games I got for a few bucks then I do for those I buy at full price, and/or the sale turns me on to a new franchise that I originally missed such as Mass Effect, Bioshock and even Borderlands, to name just a few.

Just watching the intro cinimatics could be worth $3.

Attack on Titan truly is everywhere these days lol. In that video, Eren may have dodged the death-by-discount but I think he was taken out by a homophone just the same.

Nothing here impresses me. I enjoyed Orcs must Die 2 (thought I wouldn't after Sanctum failed) but I already own 2 copies. I'd be tempted by Crysis if I hadn't heard that it is still loaded with non-Steamworks DRM.

Same here, I didn't see much that raised my pulse.

BTW, anyone else annoyed by the fact that when you type a response and hit preview, it takes you to the "Continue to MaximumPC...." freakin website? I don't want to use Adblocker on a site I really support but damn, they are pushing me to it.

avatar

DarkStarX

Yeah, same thing when I return to a page I bookmarked and it's annoying.

I try and support sites I visit but give us a break okay?

You know, given the age of Skyrim, I still think it's somewhat overpriced, even with all the DLC. But maybe I'm just one of the "cheap gamers everywhere".

avatar

John Pombrio

My biggest complaint was paying full price for TWO copies of Deux Ex: Revolution. It was on sale for $2.99 the other day. I have YET to play the game.

I paid full retail for Skyrim. That came out to about .01 cents/hour of gameplay for me.

I remember getting DX:HR for free with my processor, which influenced my processor choice a bit, only to find the game on Steam for 4.99 when I assembled a PC using that processor. Kinda brutal, and why I won't be touching Bioshock Infinite or most any other game until it is at those levels...or I give in and buy a "Never Settle Bundle" GPU.

avatar

Refuge88

Remember, Xbox does something similar when they GOTY (Game of the Year) edition games.

They are the same price or up to $20 less than the release costs. But come with all the DLC.

When you compare it that way, its pretty fair. But I suppose that's just my personal opinion.

avatar

TheMissingPiece

I actually agree. Even the biggest titles of that year (BF3, etc) are all marked down heavily by now, save Skyrim. Ah well. Hopefully the DLC will get a steeper markdown. 50% ain't bad, but hopefully I can snag Dawnguard and/or Dragonborn for 75% off or more.

avatar

vrmlbasic

I also agree.
