I picked up Tomb Raider and Age of Empires HD.

Age of Empires has been a fun, old-school experience, although on my 2560x1440 monitor, the units do get hard to see. On the other hand, seeing such a large part of the battlefield at any given time is a nice touch.

One odd thing about AoE is the achievements. The descriptions are often unclear and very, very, wordy. Plus there are over 200 of them! Not to mention that I have been playing the campaign for more than 5 hours and have yet to get one achievement. I hope they're not broken.

I have not started Tomb Raider yet, but can anyone recommend using the keyboard/mouse or a 360 controller? I have both, and I know some PC games do better with a controller, like the Darksiders games.

I bought a bunch of stuff, mostly old games I haven't gotten around to. I use this as an excuse to buy games I know I'm only going to glance over; I'm a bit sad I paid 30 bucks for the CivV expansion (I saw it was cheaper couple of weeks ago but didn't preorder) but I figure I can get 10 bucks of fun out of it in the meantime lol

Is there going to be a post reminding us about this sale for the full 12 day sale?

Sounds like an ad to me.

I kinda like seeing it here; makes me know if its worthwhile checking out! I read the news every day but barely ever log into steam.

Personally, I've been pretty unimpressed with the selection thus far. I bought Endless Space about 2 weeks ago for $17.50, so I was a little irked to see it for $11-something on Friday, but what can you do? The only other title that's piqued my interest is Kinetic Space, but as it is an alpha version that you are paying to test for them, I'll pass for now. I'd like to pick up the Brave New World expansion for Civ5, but as that just came out recently, it's still $30 (though I did see it briefly for $20.99, but it changed in less than an hour, so I'm pretty sure it was an error). I'll wait for the Winter Holiday sale for that one; hopefully get it for under $15.

I hope they have something better planned for this afternoon, because this is the first Steam sale I can remember where (thus far) I have bought nothing.

You're not crazy, before it came out it was preorderable for 20 bucks, guess you were online when they "released" it.

Still if you're itching for a game, Brave New World is pretty good!

If only I'd waited I could have saved 5 bucks on Tomb Raider vs what I paid. That would have made the horror of that game slightly more palatable. I think I'd rather install a GFWL game over playing that rot again. MPC should have warned me about this game ;)

Resident Evil 6 could be interesting with the coop mode and the somewhat-well-known voice actors but I haven't heard anything good about it so I'll pass.

How is this Just Cause II game? It intrigues me that it is _not_ a DirectX 9 game but I don't know much about it.

Just Cause II is a lot of fun. I got it free with my video card almost two years ago and still play it now. The graphics are amazing and the open world/blow up anything is entertaining for hours on end.

I haven't bought anything yet. Not impressed by the selection.

ditto, i bought i shitload on the holiday sale, so alot of the AAA titles i already have.

I was hoping dark souls II won the green light, i would have grabbed that, but hitman won instead.

avatar

kixofmyg0t

I voted for Hitman...my bad dude.

avatar

goodtime

It's either you have enough money and not enough time or enough time and not enough money....I'd also like to point out that sc2 heart of the swarm is $10 off.

i picked up tomb raider, borderlands 2, sniper ghost warrior 2, and my brother got me re6. i havent really been impressed with the selections so far. kinda sad as i already have 198 titles on steam

avatar

guinojona

And I thought that I had a lot of games, how is sniper ghost warrior 2? Still reluctant to buy that game, heard a lot of bad things.

avatar

kixofmyg0t

How is it?

It's still a DX9 game. A DX11 patch is supposedly in development but don't hold your breath.

The game as a whole? If you pay more than $7.50 for this game you're getting ripped off.

I played both games and didn't think the second was any improvement over the first, apart from using a better engine and having a smoother frame rate. The story is forgettable (in fact I had usually forgotten what it was I supposed to be doing before the end of most missions), the gameplay was repetitious and forgettable, and the mechanics were "okay". If you play the game on its hardest setting, with no aides, the sniping mechanics can be a refreshing challenge, though inconsistent, but apart from that I felt it a throw-away game.

It's so embarrassing to go to buy a game and have Steam say "Dude, you already OWN this game."
Bought three more games(new ones that is) so far.

avatar

Frraksurred

Where is the "like" button when you need it? I've done this as well.

avatar

noeldillabough

What happens to me is I get a bundle because its basically the same price and I end up owning a couple of the bundled items.

Luckily they started putting a big green band across the screen where the add to cart button is saying "you already own this game". Or I'm sure I'd buy stuff twice too lol

IM SELLING BIOSHOCK INFINITE FOR $30

Damnlogin

These deals are pretty awesome. I bought l4d2, bioshock, hitman, and a second gta4. Think Watchdogs is coming soon.

avatar

vrmlbasic

Isn't Watchdogs not due out until November?

avatar

Sir Hobbes3

I've got at least 6 games i want to buy.
